Default 2010 GC Headrest removal

I need to temporarily remove the front head restraints on a 2010 GC SXT so that I can slip on a seat cover. The manual says that "head restraints should only be removed by qualified technicians, for service purposes only." I've tried the procedure in alldata.diy where I press in the lock button but it only comes out to the top notch and no further.
Help!

1.Recline the seat to gain enough room to remove the head restraint (5).2.Press the release button (1) on the head restraint master sleeve (2).3.Press the hidden release button (3) on the headrest slave sleeve (4).4.Lift the head restraint (5) up while pressing the buttons (1 & 3) simultaneously and then remove the head restraint from the seat.

Thanks Tizzy1 for your reply.
I actually figured out the hidden release soon after I posted. Had to use a pin/sewing needle in the tiny pinhole to release. Also if anyone is performing this with the active head restraint system like mine you have to take the seat back off to disconnect the electrical connection before you can pull out the head restraint.
Thanks again,

Milanz

Great write up Tizzy1. I guess i was lucky disconecting to electrical connector without removing the battery negative. Do you know if there is an explosive charge or something that deploys the AHR? I ask because in the owner manual it says to reset it after deployment just grab it from behind and pull it down and in.

Nope, just spring loaded but it'll give you a good pop. I set a couple off just to see how they blow and to figure out how to reset them.

Just curious. I wanted to remove the headrest and install a headrest dvd player. Do I need to worry about bringing it to the dealer to reprogram the computer because of the headrest restraint system..

It can't be reprogrammed, if you remove an active head restraint, you will have a light on.
