Go back to the dealer and tell them to check the wiring harness in the thermostat area for rubbing on the fastener that holds the housing on. It can cause an intermittent short to ground in the ASD circuit. This will make the engine stall.

thanks for the info, i will be calling them tomorrow b/c it stalled again for the 7th time on my wife and they still can not find the issue. They claimed that they "moved" some harness but i can not see where or what they moved. At this point if they can not find it i am about to start the lemon law aspects.

lemon law does not apply to used cars. the only recourse you could have is if there was any written warranty in the sale paperwork

my van is a brand new van, we purchased it in march with i think 2 miles on it!! and for about the last 2k we have been dealing with this stalling issue...so i think the lemon law would apply especially since it is a safety issue. also to the gentleman that mentioned about the wiring harness, does this apply to the 4.0L engine?? thanks

yep, you definitely have a case there. most lemon laws read that if you had the vehicle 'repaired' 3x, and the same problem persists you have a lemon.

Bad part is if they buy it back, often the van gets dumped into the auction pool and some other poor sucker ends up with it and no recourse when the problem comes back.

I have a 3.8 not a 4.0, but it looks like it's more widespread. I found this site/thread after posting on Dodge talk dot com under the thread titled "2010 grand caravan stalling".

Chrysler just admitted that they have a wide spread problem in relation to this stalling issue. They are informing their dealerships to check and replace the Smart Key Ignition Modules on any vehicles that experience the problem.

They are replacing the modules with the same part so who knows if they fixed the problem or are just conducting a Hale Merry Pass hoping that the issue does not repeat.

I would definitely contact the D.O.T. and register a formal complaint. The more complaints filed the better chance that they will be forced to do a recall or be forced by a court order and address the issue properly.

Where can I find out more information?

If they supposedly didn't know about the problem - how in the world can they claim to have suddenly arrived at a solution. Besides, I doubt the ignition module would be causing all the problems that I've experienced.

I'm with gorsuchcaravan...might have to start looking at the lemon route.

caint be the ignition module, wise the 3.3l would have the same issues and many other that share the same module.
