Default Tune ups and K&N

I have a 2009 GC SXT 3.8V6 my wife and I recently purchased used with just under 40,000 miles. My wife as said that the engine will sometimes stall or get close to it, mainly in the mornings when coming to a stop. where i am at temps in the morning are now in the upper 40s. Could this be a tunning issue? besides plugs and wires, should the ECM be taking care of the rest of the tunning duties to keep the engine at top performance? maybe it is a fuel filter?

Another question, has anyone put a K&N filter in their GC? Any performance gains?

Thanks

I haven't seen k&n filters on the vans. You could be the first if you were put one on.

seems I've been seeing a lot of 08+ vans having stalling problems. can't imagine at 40k it would need plugs

wouldn't bad plugs/wires cause misfire rough running not stalling?!

Yes if you put a K&N filter on your car, it will look cool under your hood. It won't do a damn thing but make a loud sucking noise and expose your intake air to more dirt than the stock air intake, but it will look cool...and you'll be 100 dollars poorer

Get your throttle body cleaned. You have gunk buildup in your IAC port.

You are better off staying with the stock air cleaner.

but the ads say how great they are, so it's gotta be true. between a K&N, some splitfires and slick 50, the car should be getting 50mph... you mean they are lying?

Man, Splitfires...lol. I used to laugh when I saw the ones with 4 on them...then I swapped some Toyota plugs for a friend and that's what it came with stock!

Na, I give people who do mods a hard time. The reality is that people will empty their pockets for some BS, but whine about how much doing necessary repairs costs.

Stick with the stock air cleaner!

You won't get measurable HP gains that will offset the cost of the K&N filter

PLUS you waste more fuel ( since the computer now has to match the increased airflow with more gas )

Just stick to proven regular maintainance with proven quality products and your van will run much better!!

Thank you all for the replies. I did buy a K&N for my car since a K&N was twice as much as getting a new fram filter for it. It may save me yet in the long run.

I will look into getting the TB cleaned, stay away from splitfires and other crazy spark plugs as well as engine additives.

Thanks again.
