odd tranny problem

Default odd tranny problem

2000 dodge grand caravan sport the other day i was driving the van and i took of from a stop light and loud pop occured ever since then it has been driving very bad at first we thought drive shafts then replaced both of those then we thought motor mounts replaced those aswell the problem seems to ocurr when turning to the left feels like it is in four wheel drive like the older four wheel drives were they would bind when turning. so after all that we stumbeld apon somthing when my step father put his hand on the van and leened a littile bit on it it poped again and then moved about a foot and all whyle in park .what could cause such a problem and could a guy do this at home any help would be nice thank you

At this point you're just guessing and throwing parts at the problem. Read the post below on how a pro would diagnose this noise.

i think we have narrowed it down to the tranny now from the car poping out of park so easy

Do you have a 3 speed transmission or the 4 speed?

It is a 4 speed

return spring broken on Park Pawl Or damaged Pawl Rod would be my 1st guess

anyone else (kids?) drive this van? like someone who would shift it into park while its still moving???

Disconnect the kick down cable and see if you have the same problem. If the transmission does not pop out of park, the problem is the valve body. The problem is the kick down lever is frozen.

Does that anything to with the way the van is driving do you think or is there other problems perhaps. Thank you guys for all the input by the way we have been sracthing our heads for a wile

If the kick down shaft is frozen, you will have some shifting problems.

must have a 2.4 4cyl to have a 3speed in a 2000 van.
