Try holding both odometer buttons in then turn the key to on. Keep the buttons pushed until the gauges cycle. After 10 seconds or so the gauges should go back to zero.

Nothing happened when I did the test the only thing I notice is when I turn the key to the off position the needle comes off the peg but when I turn the key to the on position it still pegs out.

Did you have this same problem with the old battery too?

Yes it did. Would there be any codes concerning this? How much work is involved pulling out the instrument cluster can I reset it if I remove the cluster or should I look at finding one at a bone yard?

You could have stored codes. It could have either a gauge problem or the circuit board.

RSSCHWARTZ,

What exactly did you do? Hold in the odometer button, insert key and switch ON?

My wife just phoned me from the gas station - she was trying to reset the trip with the van off and now the odometer, speedometer and tach dont' work?!?!? The van did start and she was able to drive home no problem. She was suitably worried because we know the PCM has a P0601 internal fault code in it.
