Default 96 GC Cruise Control Not Working

96 grand caravan 3.8 v-6 auto

( YES clock spring was replaced years ago under recall )

Turn on cruise control at highway speed

It activates for a short period then shuts itself off or DOES NOT set the speed.

The green light on the switch on the steering wheel does come on

BUT it does not set the speed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't rule out the clockspring. Do you also have a ck engine lite on too? Have to check the servo for the speed control.

I didn't think of either. A brake light switch will cause the speed control to be inop. If the switch is being apply by the pedal but not enough to cause the lights to go on.Good job bud.

Have to wait till sat to check the light and brake light switch, had to work late, but it makes sense.

Right now the cc green light does come on, but the speed won't set or engage, it did engage briefly while back, but not now so i'll check it and report back

Thanks again for the ongoing help !

Default update

Ok the third brake light does work, and no bulbs burned out on the other brake lights.

I'll have to get a mighty vac to check the vaccum to see if it's holding vacuum on the resovoir, and will have to check to see if i have current to the unit from the set switch.

I may have to replace the hard vacuum lines with a vacuum line harness since these are jerry rigged with soft vacuum hose to pacth the broken hard lines.

More to come
