Default Power steering cooler hose leaking 2001 Grand C Sport 3.3l

2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport 3.3L 120K

I noticed the other day that my PS cooler hose is leaking a little, it seems like it's at the cooler tube connection to hose? The reservoir seems to be okay hasn't dropped much at all and steering is fine with no noise. I'm going to clean off with some cleaner wipe down and ck to see where it's coming from. First can I use a regular piece of hose or does it require a special type of hose? How much fluid should I expect to come out if I remove it?

Thanks

can't answer on the tubing, but I just changed my pressure hose on my 06, you will need less then 1qt to refill, but buy 2 qts just incase, you can return it then

Be sure to replace both hoses. One of ours failed and was replaced only to have the other one fail on my wife 300 miles from home.

common issue, the cooler hoses were actually recalled in '02 and '03 for blowing out and leaking.

Default Part number or type of hose

I took a good look at the hose yesterday after doing the Spark Plugs, there's two hoses going to the PS steering cooler one is short about 6-8inches long and the other is very long (I'm talking about the rubber hose that attaches from the metal tubing to the cooler). The short one is the one that's has the slight leakage. Does anyone know what type of hose this is? It's pushed onto the metal tubing going up to?? and to the cooler and is held on with just spring type clamps. Can I purchase at a local auto parts store?

Also I could not find a diagram to explain to me how the system works? Are both the hoses that go to the PS Cooler under pressure? Does anyone have a link to a diagram?

Thanks

The hose is a bulk hose which is 3/8 in diameter. Mopar number is 5135964AA. The hose diameter is not 11/32.

Default Thank you for replying

First thx for replying. Also do you know if both hoses that go to the cooler are high pressure? Thx for the part #. Is that 3/8 ID?

anything with just a clamp on it is on the return side. Pressure side hoses have screw together fittings.

This is the cooler....

These are the power steering lines....

the 2 metal lines held by clamp 5 and clip 12 are the return lines. One comes from the power steering rack, goes down to the cooler, through the cooler and back up the other line which goes to the reservoir. The longer hose was added by a dealer for a steering shudder complaint. Both of the hoses used to be the same size, just short U shaped hoses and squeeze clamps.
