maybe reverse clutch is malfunctioning

I'm assuming this is a 4speed?

u may need to check pressure at the reverse clutch port pressure @ 1500RPM should be 165 -235psi, or have someone do this

Check Engine Light come on yet?

Are you having any problems with 1st gear at all? Because I'm thinking the low/reverse accumlator seal is leaking fluid pressure or broken hard part inside the transmission. Did you check the fluid level and condition?

all of my forward gears are working perfectly gearing up and down automaticly as well as manually from D to 1st and from 1st to D . My fluid level is good and the condition is like new no burnt smell and is clear red . I had the fluid changed about 2 yrs ago and this started about 10 months ago. Like i said before it enguages u can feel it but it doesnt lock in to move the vehicle backwards
