I am going to call Dodge again and see what they say. I also bought synthetic tranny fluid. If they can't figure it out, I will at least try and see if that helps.

Does anyone know if our vans have tranny filters?

how is the head your issue? are you saying they charged you to replace the faulty head they sold you?

But is your misfire severe? or is it a slight slight hesitation you feel only at idle?
on my 2012 its only on idle I feel it and on reverse uphill. but accelerating is OK.

It was not severe. I couln't even really feel it. I know what a misfire feels like. I've had issues with other cars in the past. It didn't even put on the check engine light.

Default New TSB from 10/06/2012

I got my GC 2011 today back from dealership. They performed PCM flash (TSB 21-012-12 Rev. B. from October 6th, 2012 http://www.braunlift.com/productinfo...10-6-Shift.pdf) and quick learned transmission. Immediately, I noticed huge difference on how transmission shifts from first to third with Econ mode on. It was very smooth. I also tested how it shifts from 2nd to 3rd w/o Econ mode on. Also smooth. BUT, by the time I got home (about 20 miles after), I started feeling that harsh shift again, though about 10 times weaker than before I took car to dealership. It is less noticeable, but still present. I do not understand how this can happen. The only thing that changed on this drive from dealership to home could be transmission oil temperature. Nothing else. For a moment I was very happy. Now, I have mixed feelings/hopes.
As for the TSB, I diagnosed what is going on with transmission very accurately. So it was not that hard for dealership to find the right (?) solution. Will monitor how transmission works and will follow.

Had a fluid flush and filter change at 22K mi. It's early but I don't want future problems as I've had it in 3 times with out any resolution on the transmission hard shift when decelerating at low speeds. I brought in 10 quarts of Amsoil and it wasn't enough (obviously but I didn't want to over buy) and had Mopar synthetic for the rest of it. Total tab including fluid is a little over $525. I really really really hope this fixes it. I'm thinking that maybe the filter is real dirty and fluid getting bad as I didn't have any tranny issues until about 18K mi. I will post back in a week or two as follow up. If it doesn't help, I'll probably find out in rush our traffic on Monday. If it doesn't seem to come back, I'll give it 2 weeks to be sure before I post back. Crossing fingers.

Default Grand Caravan, Grand Tranny issues

Well I'm back. I started this tranny post after my 2010GC starting having tranny issues at 5000 miles. After a rebuild, continuos service repairs, and guess what, a new tranny, I drove out of Dodge yesterday, thinking, just maybe, I'll have a smooth shift from 1st to 2nd. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shuddered, hesitated, banged and clunked with a steady foot on acceleration, in the Economy mode. I am disgusted with this vehicle and will never buy another Dodge again.

sorry to hear you have spent another 525.00 on a vehicle that you already spent 25k to 30 k on, have lost more money with your 3 trips to dealers (missing work or whatever) and more than likely your tranny flush will have accomplished nothing. worst part is they were probably more than happy to charge you to replace perfectly good fluid. its amazing what they spend on advertising to gain new customers but wont hardly do anything to keep a customer which is the easiest part of doing business.

It seems to coast better after the change over to synthetic. The transmission clunk is still there however. I'll keep the van until the drive train warranty expires and then trade it in for a Honda. Too bad cause I like most everything about the van but reliability is my #1 concern over any other aspect the cars I buy and own. If I post back here in this thread, that'll either mean the dealer would have finally addressed this or my tranny will be broken and I'll be complaining. Good luck to everyone else with this issue. Hopefully some resolution will come up in the future.
