I received the recall notice today in the mail as well (US). I already had the trans reprogrammed last year though so I'm not sure this will be different.

So took my van on 200mi roadtrip. Hard shifting and shutter in reverse are still there even after dealership reprogrammed trans. In fact, shifting is now worse then it was when I took it in. To add insult to injury, I have began to notice slight irregularity in idle rpm. (misfire?) No CEL.. . . yet. 2011 sxt braun mobility van 28k mi, pentastar.

We just received the recall notice for our caravan as well. Our van has always shuddered in reverse on an incline and it clunks horribly in ecomode. We have stopped using Eco mode and it has been pretty good. Once in a while it clunks putting in from drive into park. Hearing some of you say that taking it in did not solve the problem makes me nervous to even take it in for the recall. I tried taking it In severall times when we first got it and we constantly got the run around, they did this and adjusted that and said nothing was wrong. It was so frustrating. I am not happy as a dodge owner, although some of the features of the van are great. Guess I will take it in and see what happens.

Devin D: that is what has hapened with me, too. Not using Econ mode, occassional clunks, reporting the problem every time it's in for an oil change, love the van's features! I'm sure glad I bought the basic model. The recall confirms that Chrysler knows there is a problem. Has anyone heard of a class-action suit happening in Canada?

Thumbs down customer assitance line...is of no assistance at all!

We purchased a new 2011 Dodge Caravan in Nov of 2011. This vehicle has had a horrible noise coming for the rear wheel area intermittantly for the last 6 months. Had it in to the dealership and they supposedly can't find a thing or recreate any noise (of course) The noise was happening again on my way home so I stopped in to a different Dodge dealer. Asked a service guy to come on a quick ride with me while it was going on. He had a quick look at the rear wheels says " i dont even need to come for a ride I can see that you have a seized brake pad and your rotors are all scored badly, brake pads were bent and discolored from getting too hot" He guessed the calipers had been sticking or not releasing and caused this as 2 months before when we had it in for service the brakes looked fine!! We brought it to the original dealer that did all our work and explained what this guy had said they took it apart aggreed that the calipers were the issue they replaced them under warranty but...... "sorry you will have to pay for rotors and brake pads as Chrysler won't" (almost 500 bucks later) This is soooo wrong as there wouldn't have been an issue with them had it not been for faulty callipers!!! We pay to repair the van and are given the Chrysler Customer Care number to voice our compliant about having to pay for rotors and pads due to Faulty callipers....and are told "sorry, not covered, we will document your dissatisfaction on the file though....have a nice day!!!" What a joke, we will NEVER AGAIN purchase a vehilce made by Dodge/Chrysler if this is how they stand by their vehicles!! Only reason we had to go to them after owning GM vans for the last 20 years is that GM stopped making them If you want a company that stands behind their cars....shop elsewhere!!! NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!!!

Default Tool 2011 in for repairs and tranny reprogram.....

Just got my 2011 Dodge van back from the local dealer for a broken window regulator on the driver's side door, broken rear mini-**** fan control dial on front dash air control panel.......... AND ............ the infamous tranny reprogramming under the recall.

At first, the service writer said he didn't remember the shuddering issue, but upon picking up the van, he acknowledged that others have complained, but that Dodge continues to "not have a fix or recall....."

There are other Dodge product issues that have no fixes and/or recalls, so this isn't the only one. I've written on this issue before. My van is a corporate vehicle, I've had Dodge vans since 1998, and other than the "gutless wonder 2008 3.3 L", all of the vans have been reasonable decent.

I did notice that when I was backing into my "slight incline" driveway yesterday, the shuddering under load and during slow movement, was minimal as compared to "before the dealer did this recall-reprogramming."

I like the van overall, and when I'm out of the area on business, and renting, all of the newer 2012 and 2013 Avis Dodge and/or Chyrsler vans perform in all gears flawlessly. And frankly, I've never had any clunking into forward gears..... only the shuddering in slow reverse under load.

I'm still a fan of the Dodge van........

Does anyone know if our vans have tranny filters?
It has synthetic transmission fluid in it already. The specified factory +4 chrysleer fluid is a synthetic. How many quarts did you buy? Mixing fluid and running fluids other than the specified +4 type is a very bad idea.

To LSCman

Have the same exact situation. The dodge dealer cant figure it out. They also too replaced both cylinder heads said it was misfire issue. Problem still persist.

Guys I think we have more than enough for a class Action law suit. These vans have so many issues and the dealer has no fix for them. I have this high pitched squeel comming from my dash when heavy winds and on highway. Heavy shutter while reversing into my uphill driveway. Rough idle. Bad shifting. And more.
