Question front fan only works on hi not any other fan speed

I have a 2008 Grand Caravan and the heat and AC fan only works on high! I checked a couple of fuses that were labeled hvac and they were good. Is this possibally going to be a switch or motor failure? Oh and the back ac and heater fans work fine.

Welcome to DF
The front fan blower resistor maybe bad. Is the van still under warranty?

Momma has already put over 70K on her so unless they wanna consider the blower as part of the drive train nope not under warranty! Ha! There is a previous post about the blower resister but it looks like some photos that go along with the instructions are missing making it kind of vague on exactly where that sucker is... so trying to decipher without pics is said resistor between the wire harness and the actual blower?

Could be apples and oranges but I'll stick it here anyway. Here's a video on how to troubleshoot and change a resistor block on an 02 Caravan. Appears easy to check if it applies or not. Just drop the glove box door: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsazw...eature=related

I'll place my bets on the resistor as well! Had one in a Ford F150 and a dodge stratus go bad. Same symptoms--only worked on high! If it were a blower motor problem, the fan shouldn't really be running at all if it hasn't been working on the other settings.

Chances are it's the resistor pack. My front blower stopped on my '06 GC SXT on all speeds, replaced the pack and life is good. About $17 bucks at Autozone. BTW, drop the glove box down and the plug you see ithe the plug to the resistor pack.

Welcome to DF
It not uncommon for the blower motor to fail, after a resistor has been replaced. If you have power and ground at the motor, then the motor is bad.

exactly as the motor gets tighter and causes more draw it burns out the resistor 1st.
then when you replace the resistor the motor will die soon after, 50% of the time the blower will work fine forever

for 12 bucks its worth the shot
