Default wiring issues - 2nd gear only!

Hey guys, I have a 1996 T&C 3.3 auto, I replaced the tranny solenoid a few months back & it was still stuck in 2nd, so I disassembled the main wiring loom that runs under the radiator to reach the tranny computer. There were 6 or more wires that were just burnt in 2 and most of it all was coated in battery corrosion. I have since discovered that a fuse box full of silt means I bought a van that was underwater. I did the repairs in sub zero temps with numb hands then it shifted just fine, but I had to remove the fuse for the interior lights because they would drain the battery fast. I tried to fine tune that old repair & replaced another wire, but now I am stuck in 2nd gear again. Does anyone have a good clear wiring diagram for that loom that goes across the bottom under the radiator? I know I need to just replace it or junk this & get another, but the engine runs great & I am pretty broke. I have a large spool of high quality 16 gauge wire to use, but I need a clear game plan this time. Please someone help me with a diagram!

Hi Brian
Did I sent you some diagrams? If I didn't, send me a pm with your email address.

Even more fun! I spent the entire day carefully disasembling the engine wiring loom & I replaced all the wires that lead from the tranny solenoid to the tranny PCM 1 at a time, still stuck in 2nd gear. I heard someone on a similar post mention that their tach went ape when this happened to them and there was another circuit leading to a sensor that could cause this, but my tach works fine, no jumping at all. I also have to leave the fuse for the interior lights out or the battery runs down in about 3 hours. I do suspect it has been under water before I bought it because the fuse box had lake bottom type silt all around the relays & fuses, and there was a ton of corrosion in there. I replaced all fuses & some for the relays, but I think the fuse box may even be too far gone. it sucks because the tranny was shifting fine & the engine runs great, but I may have to ditch this thing for something less troublesome soon. It really sucks because I am starting to like having this van even though I have no family.

I was about to tear back into the harness, but I changed out some relays instead, now I have a fully operational transmission. Whoda thunk it? The fuse box is full of corrosion and I should likely replace it.

If the fuse box has corrosion. I would either clean it up or replace it.

I replaced the EATX & the ones around it just to be safe with some I got form the junk yard out of another van. I removed the fuse box in an effort to do a detailed cleaning job, but as I got into it from the bottom, I found it is layer after layer of a sort of curcuit board with stuff that falls out everywhere, so I just put it back together & crossed my fingers. I will get another fuse box asap, but next are window motor assemblies (new) & a wiper switch (used) & a rear wheel bearing.

peshewa,
Just curious my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan is stuck in limp mode as well and have changed out both the input and output sensors with no change. I am looking in my book right now to find the EATX relay. My van was driving awesome then all of a sudden wouldnt go out of limp mode. The speedometer and odometer stopped working and the P D N R... have squares around them. It still drives find just at about 2500 rpms. I am desprate cant afford to take it to a shop and hubby been out of work for almost 3 years. Any advice is muchly appreciated.
