Default Help - RPM but van doesn't go

I put three years ago a new transmission and drive axles in my 96 Caravan 3.0. Lately I felt that the van needed more RPM in order to move, starting with the reverse. Now it basically got this bad that the van does not want to move at all.

The transmission sounds fine when I switch gears, I cannot say I hear anything slip, fluid level is fine.

Where should I need to check?

Thanks for your help!!

Sound like your torque converter is dying.

I could be your input and output speed sensors (replace them they're only $20,ea.).

I was wondering about that, as the converter came with the transmission. I replaced everything when I put in the new tranny, but that doesn't mean it cannot break.

It just seems that the connection between engine and transmission is gone......

Front pump failing? Yeah, it's time for a trans.

I graduated from Rocksprings Ga. Area tech school in the 60's . There have no rear pump in any automatic trans. since 1963 only a front pump behind the torque converter !!
I think the filter is filthy or the pump is worn out or they could be trash in the valve body relief valve . This is just a long distance guess ! Bud

Enough with the name calling. Dealer connect show 1996 and 1997 both came with a 3 speed and 4 speed transmission. From now on you as members need to ask, what type of transmission does the member have in their vans or cars. When they only give an engine size. Again I will not stand for this name calling. This is the last waring. The next time I see anyone posting name calling, harassment or fighting. You will get some time out. Or unless a Site moderator wants to start the time out at anytime.

My apologies MT.

I was only trying to help. Automatic transmissions are not my strong suit, I'll be the first to admit.
I can only go by what I have experienced with my Caravans.

I should not have snapped back like I did, and if I hadn't have read MOPAR22's other posts, I'd have blown it off.
As you know, I am NOT a wave maker here on DF.
I do NOT mind holding someone's hand through their repairs.
That's kinda why we're here.
I've had other members, you included, that have helped me in the past.

Got no real beef with MOPAR22, I don't mind being wrong, that's how we learn.
There just might be a better way to point out someone is wrong.

An olive branch extended to MOPAR22,
Welcome to Dodge Forum.

I am only going to say this once. Stop yacking and listen.

Although I don't condone his attack on you, I don't half blame him. You came off as abrasive, arrogant, and "holier than thou."

One thing you have to get used to is that you are not always right and properly educating someone who is wrong. You politely voice your disagreement, and state your side. You don't barge in chewing them out for giving wrong info. For all you know, a supposed expert gave them that info. You have to explain, politely, why they are wrong. If they don't like your assessment, then that's their problem.

I have cleaned up this thread. 22mopar22, do not post in this thread again. This is the last warning you will receive before we go from written warnings to actual punitive action. I shouldn't even give you this warning, since master tech already gave you one.
