Default 2002 Grand Caravan transmission problem

The transmission in my 2002 Grand Caravan suddenly started having problems. It was NOT a gradual thing, so I think it's electronic. It stays in 3rd gear; won't shift into overdrive and seems to start off in 3rd as well (instead of 1st, then 2nd............ Park, reverse, and neutral work fine.
When hooked up to the computer by a buddy, code indicated that it was a transmission relay problem. Where is the relay? Is there a way to reset the computer to correct the problem?
Any help would be appreciated!

read you owners manual or look in the box marked fuses and relays. btw you vehicle IS in 2nd not 3rd. that is how it's designed!!! you don't need to reset the computer, you need to fix the problem and the computer will automatically reset!

We swapped out the relay with another one that we knew was good. It corrected the problem for the time being but only a block down the road the code (888) came back.
Any idea what this is and a cheap way to fix it?......the van is not worth spending alot of $ on.......
Thanks!!

I see no listing for an 888.

The easiest way to fix it is have full coverage insurance and improperly install a car stereo or aim for deer or park it by a crappy tree in a windstorm.

if you want it fixed bring it to my shop. $150 and I'll have you on the road if it's an electrical problem. if it's an iternal trans problem $600 is my price.

This maybe a silly question. Was the van in a flood? If it was, I would start checking the connectors to the transmission module thats on the frame rail inside the drivers fender. If you get any water in those connectors, you will have many problems with transmission and code P0888 could be one of them.

No flood, but plenty of rain here at times. Also, it's been wrecked in the front. I thought that may have something to do with it.
Thanks!
