I made a template out of newspaper for the larger console from my wife's caravan console and was very careful when cutting the hole on my GC resulting in a perfect factory fit.

Later I'll need to wire the outside temp sensor but am still trying to find out how to add two pins to the multi pin connector at the fuse box.

Hi Joe,

I am trying to the upgrade my 05 Caravan with the overhead console too, got the console and harness from u-pull yard out of 2001 Caravan direct fit. The compass working fine but the temp showing - 40 at all times.

when checked the connector find out some wires color coded different like the harness i got of the yard has black/blue as you mentioned and the original connector has black/white in the same slot. could you please help on how you did it.

thanks

Wely

the overhead reads the ambient temperature from the bus from the front control module.

My Caravan is the base (SE) from the wiring diagram i see the note under the overhead console saying except base.

I know i have a lot of questions as i dont want miss everything up and end up buying new FCM or PCM.

Thanks

Hi Wely,

Your harness is fine. You now need to install an ambient temp sensor with wires. When I removed the sensor from the donor I also followed the two wires back to the bottom of the IPM ( integrated power module ) located behind the battery. I removed the multi-pin connector where the two wires went and cut off the rest of the wires so I could take the connector home with the two sensor wires still attached. You need to do this so you can learn how to remove the terminals from the connector in order to install in your connector. It looks impossible but the center block of the connector where all the connectors are located can be pried out of the connector housing with a small screw driver to expose and remove the terminals. You will need to install these two connectors with a few inches of wire into the same slots on your connector so you can solder the wires to the two going to the sensor.

Good luck,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your reply, I have the ATS pre-installed from dodge originally, when checked the wires i see it going to the IPM and seems fine, even check the voltage in the sensor connector and read 5V.

no I dont see any fuse for the ATS but blue empty connector under the IPM that not attached to anything and looks like its relay connector.

so I am not sure if there is fuse i have to connect to make the ATS works or what else should I do?

Thanks

Walid

Walid, there is no fuse to connect but you only need add the two sensor wires to the multi-pin connector that plugs under your IPM. Those two wires eventually connect to the BCM which is all the information it needs to give you the right temperature on your display.

Cheers,

Joe
