Are these body control module symptoms?
I have always suspected that something was up with the wiring in this 1999 grand caravan. A year or so ago the gauges would like surge then go out and then come on again a short time later. The motorized seat would just stop working for a few days and then start again. The radio just went out for a day last week.
And then 2 nights ago I tried to adjust the seat again and the lights surged, the abs, and airbag lights went on and everything else stopped. The turn signals, the blower for the heat, the door locks, all stopped working and haven't come back yet.
Does this sound like the bcm? Can I just buy one from a junkyard from the same make and model caravan and plug it in? I would love to hear your input.

Pretty good bet it's a CCD data bus problem. It controls nearly all the electronics on the van. Could be the BCM. It's the data bus controller. Could also be wiring and any number of bad connections. The instrument cluster and the HVAC control panel connections have a history you've probably read about. If its not the data bus it could be a loose/corroded ground.
If you get a BCM from a junkyard make sure the van it came out of has the same security system as your van, other wise it could damage the PCM - another pricey box. You will have to visit a dealership and have them reset the mileage. The BCM is the source for your odometer data.

I've read about the instrument cluster issue before and honestly that problem has not reared its ugly head for some time so I figured we were in the clear.
As far as the ccd issue. I'm not the electrical guy, my father is... So Ill have to run that thought by him. But as a side note how could I go about troubleshooting it? How can I confirm if its the bcm or not?

Just to update. Going to be getting a used bcm from a yard this coming week hopefully. All the same symptoms are there still with the addition of the rear drivers side brake light now not functioning.

If you can verify by moving the seat or something thats in common with that circuit. That would be my starting point. You may also need some tools to help you find this problem. DVOM and 12 volt test light, and a scanner that will work on all modules. You want to which modules are not on the CCD bus circuit. If you still have your old BCM, Put it back in and clean the pins and add dielectric grease. Cougar is on the right track, You may not have a BCM problem. It maybe a bus system problem. Have your dad help you with some of the terms that we are using. There is one term I use on myshelf every day. K.I.S.S ( Keep It Simple Stupid ).
