Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me out with a transmission problme on my 1992 dodge caravan 2.5 liter engine 3 speed It won't shift from firdt to second gear it is automatic transmission. Any help would be great!

Check throttle linkage to transmission...If linkage is connected properly , the problem is internal.......possible causes include valve body, broken band or the governor malfunctioned....would be good to remove pan and look for debri...

 

Try from a stop, Put the shift lever in low gear and move the lever up to 2nd and then to drive. Does the transmission upshifts? If it does, the governor valves are sticking.
