Does anyone have a video of replacing the left side CV Axle. I have to have the one on my 2000 Dodge G.C. replaced, as this will be the 1st time I'm attempting to do this myself(is this a good idea?) because i would like to save a few bucks doing it myself. I did the front hub assembly myself with information I got from this great forum(way to go members) a video showing things would be better. thank-you in advance. HuffmanFamilyof4
I have no video but it is not that difficult to do. Remove the axle nut and washer, seperate the lower ball joint from the spindle. remove the outer joint from the front hub. Pop the axle out of the transmission and pull it out. And as usual, swear every now and then.
...and throw tools. Very therapeutic. Just scope out a safe area before you start.
Here's one for a passenger side axle on an 06. Probably close. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8RNnRZL7GU
This video is not for a Caravan but it's full of good general tips. He talks about a wishbone. I don't think that applies to a Caravan.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jydxpsh13WQ

I was watching the video on that 06... when he goes to separate the tie rod, he talks about "the bolt on the bottom and the bolt on the top"... can someone clarify for me, when you indeed remove that cotter pin and bolt, do you then have to use some type of puller or pickle fork to get it to separate? I found the video interesting because I'm going to have to replace the tie rod ends before long on my 07...
I'm going to say no but I've only changed an axle on a Caravan once some time ago. It came right out. Some may be stubborn and need coaxing with a hammer.

A pickle fork will work, but there are less destructive tools out there.
You can borrow the proper tool from a car store.
Ask for a tie rod puller.
I have this kit:

It has payed for itself many times over. Look for a HF 20% coupon if you decide to purchase it.

Very nice video.

The bolts he was talking about are the two strut bolts and nuts. There is one upper and one lower. The reason you need to remove them is so you can get the axle shaft out of the outer bearing assy.
