Is there any way to find out what the current version of software is installed in the 130 RES radio? I found an update from about 6 months ago, but I just got the uconnect installed in my 2012 grand caravan SXT. So before I try the update I want to make sure it is newer than what is already installed. Unfortunately I don't have any of the manuals. Bought the car used.

 

yes u can its pressing the menu button then in one of those system info be there. you have the version of gracenotes, system nav if u have it, and other info too.

 

This is only true if you have either the RBZ or the RHB touchscreen radio. On the RES, the only way to get the SW version is to have the dealer use the scan tool to pull it.

 

Where did you find an update for the RES radio? Do you have a link to it?

So if I use this udpate and the radio has newer software in it will it refuse to update the radio or will it blindly accept an older version?

 

Ok, just a little FYI (and others also)
The RES, REQ, RBZ & RHB radios have an external Uconnect module. Unlike the 730 & 730N which have an internal Uconnect system.
With the above mentioned radios, there are separate SW versions for the radio and the external Uconnect module. The Updates that I have listed in those links are for the Uconnect module only, not the radio.
Now if your vehicle was built after 1-1-2012 then you have the most current Uconnect SW version, if it was built prior to that date then you'll want to perform the update.
