Well what do i win?

I know the part number was upated to 4894077AA and its called a Sliding door control assembly cover. And it fits 1996 thru 1999 caravan. And you need to remove the sliding door panel to install it.

SLIDING DOOR TRIM PANEL
REMOVAL
1.Remove sliding door upper frame molding.
2.If removing the left sliding door trim panel, remove screw from inside ash receiver bezel.
3.Remove screws holding trim panel to inner door panel Sliding Door Trim Panel Screws
4.Disengage push-in fasteners holding trim to door panel around perimeter and upper edge of door Sliding Door Trim Panel
5.Separate sliding door trim panel from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1.Place sliding door trim panel in position on vehicle.
2.Align locating pins on backside of trim panel to mating holes in the inner door panel.
3.Engage push-in fasteners to hold trim to door panel around perimeter and upper edge of door Sliding Door Trim Panel
4.Install screws to hold trim panel to inner door panel.
5.If necessary, install screw from inside ash receiver bezel on left sliding door trim panel.
6.Install sliding door upper frame molding.

nothing yet MT!!!

excellent instructions on how to remove and install the sliding door trim panel, but this is the part that installs/protects the guts of the sliding door lock system from the back of the trim panel. there arent any screws to fasten, clips, ect. it looks as though it hangs/clips onto the bracketing with the tabs somehow. it acts as a "standoff" so the back of the trim panel doenst rub/interfere with the lock mechanism.

whos going to take another run at the victory lap and top place on the podium?

fyi...i have since reinstalled the drivers sliding door trim panel WITHOUT this part installed "between" the trim panel and covering the lock mechanism. i just could not figure out how to put it on there!! hell...i dont even know which way is "up" on this thing!

ill probably have to look at another one just like it and go off of that.

I'll re-post this here (why two post for the same thing???)

The only instructions I found was:

- Install latch / lock cover.

With the following illustration:

drivers side is a mirror image. Think we'll leave the rest of the leg work to you.

i am encouraged that someone thinks a part could be a mirror image, i mean why would GM/dodge make something so simple?!?!

from the illustration one can see "which way is up", which is a BIG clue. i think the monkey with the spanner can take it from here. heh.

thanks!
