Do you have grey headed keys? Do you have a spare? The newer vans are very good at "forgetting" their keys. Does the little red light come on in the dash when you try to start it?

Default Grey headed key, red light

Hello Tizzy1

Yes, grey headed keys, and red light ( # 13 in manual ) Some time ago,
I tried the spare key. It started the engine 3 - 4 times and I used the van with no problems, didn't turn it off, and locked the running vehicle with the second key wihile doing my shopping. After that never again.( Code: no Power to ignition)

Thank you for your time !

Default Spare key

No,no, nothing works, no difference now to the "every day key".

No cranking, no power to starter solenoid, There are 12 volts on terminal 86
under starter relais ( I read that somewhere in this forum, that it should have, when I turn the key to start).
Jumping terminal 30 to 87, the starter cranks, but engine does not fire, and you can't smell any gasoline fumes.
I switched the relay with another one, no change.

I don't know, what else to try. I just don't have the expertise !

Thank you for putting up with me, I appreciate it very much.

I"ll be following this one closely, we have the same problem with our Caravan, and after following numerous threads, it seems no one really has a definitive answer....

Default Thanks

Well, at least somebody who has more expertise than I , walks me through this. I'm very thankfull for Tizzy's input. I would be completely lost ! It is still a great mystery for me.

I just can't spend the money at some dealer, and getting ripped of.

I work at a dealer, I don't rip people off.

Gets to that point when you need a scan tool. The PCM is what grounds the starter relay and all the other relays that give you spark and fuel. That's why it doesn't start when you jump the relay, no spark or fuel. I am leaning toward something goofy with your skim module or the remote start unit itself.

Default Sorry Tizzy

I did not intend to offend anybody, but here in town we have two Dodge Chrysler dealers , I tied them for help.I showed them a previous invoice, and they wouldn't even show me(at a van in the yard) which "black box" was replaced at that time.
They ask me to bring the van in to take a look.
If you feel offended, I sincerely appologize. It was not my intention.

Thank you

Why were you 'checking the fuses in the PCM' in the first place ?. Was it because your car battery / FOB battery was flat and the car wouldn't start ? Does the alarm still work / auto lock still work / radio settings still work ?

It sounds like your vehicle thinks it's being stolen, your keys and your car are divorced, they hate each other and don't trust each other. The first to eliminate is the car protecting itself from theft by not starting. Re-calibrate the key & car with each other.

NOTE : I Haven't had a petrol since early '72 and don't own a Dodge and live in the UK.

Default Vehicle theft alarm light

Hello QinteQ
Thank you very much for your input.
It began with a brocken starter + wire.(green corrosion, right through.
The vehicle was acting up like crazy, lights in instrument cluster, engine
was shaking, cutting in and out. Replaced red starter + wire, all ok.

Then from time to time cranking, fireing, but didn't stay running.
Then nothing at all. Code reader : no power to ignition coil.
Then, no "click" of the solenoid, checked, no power.
Jumped the relay, starter cranks - so -- connections good !
I checked all fuses, switched relais arround, cleaned all connections under the PCM, no success.
The vehicle theft alarm light stays on with key turned to ignition, and only flashes only once.( not for 15 seconds as stated in the owners manual )

Radio works, door locks work, fuel pump runs with key in ignition position.

By the way
The gentleman I bought the van from, had the same problem.
I got my hands on his service records:

They replaced a Module (08-035-028) or FP-Number (R4727530-AA)
and a block (08-015-009) or FP-Number (05102969-AB) and $ 596.oo later it was supposed to be ok. It worked for a while, but I still couldn't find out what these things are or what they look like !

For more info please read all my posts, it's all about this ongoing problem.

Thanks for now
