Situation: the 97 caravan(3.3 engine) has not run in 18 hrs. I open the rear hatch with the key to take something out. I leave the tailgate up and continue to walk pass the van. As I pass the front of the van, the wipers start up and make 4 complete cycles stopping halfway up the windshield. Any ideas????????

Are you a Zombie?

Ghost wipers are a common problem sometimes caused by a weak battery, stalk switch or BCM. Inspect battery connections for corrosion. Disconnect negative battery cable to reset the data bus.

Battery posts have been cleaned. BCM PCM and wiper motor have been replaced. I do not believe battery is weak.

Have the battery load tested and also check the IOD fuse in the PDC. this also causes the wipers to go on.

4 wires run from the wiper motor to a connector in the engine compartment. I eliminated the connector and spliced and soldered the wires together. The wipers still do not work. I rotated the relays. no luck there either.rear wiper does not work either.
