warning, sliding doors, poor manufacturing
Fiat quality (read Chrysler) ranks far below the domestics (Ford And GM). Japan and Italy are both at quite a distance. Toyota is still dealing with nuclear meltdown while Marchionne cares more about Ferrari racing, the quality of his tiny high profit 500 series putzmobiles and Alfa Romeo. He is too focused on their European market losses and BBB- credit rating to worry about Chrysler quality. The UAW rank and file is in full control of Chrysler R&D thru bail-out Trust Fund, so don't expect any engineering fixes from an exempt, professional (PE) with a genuine bachelors degree lol. They were all severed 6 yrs ago.

So here's the update. Everything went well. The fix has been applied.
Bill at the body shop was informative detailing the cause of the issue. And provided some better practices.
Apparently its not only the regular use of the door that can cause this. Opening the door aggressively, for lack of a better term can be a cause as the doors were also designed for the slow auto open and close. Bill also added that a van parked on an angle (sidehill) can contribute to the scuffing of your quarter panel.
The dealership was kind enough to provide a courtesy car and mentioned to let them know if this reoccurs.
A huge turnaround in service and attitude from this dealership after getting help from Katie H on this. Regardless... It's nothing personal.
Although, we're still missing an owners manual that I was promised @ the time of the purchase LOL but I've found a pdf version online
Thanks one last time! I can now consider this purchase a "success"?

the problem is for the manual doors. Anyway my came out of garage yesterday all fixed...hopefully. Just be mindful if you have a 212 grand caravan. check the fenders. As I said it took sinc june 2012 to have this issue fixed. tx to everyone who tried to find a solution it appears that Dodge finally decided it was important to fix.
I just bought a 2011 (40K Km) and noticed the exact same problem. The drivers side is worn worse then the passenger. The drivers side is much closer than the passenger side when you open the door. I have an appointment on Friday at the dealer to fix TPMS and the 115VAC outlet. I will mention this as well along with the creaking in the back.

I noticed in another forum someone mentioned the dealer ordered thinner panels to install rather than try to use the peel and stick velcro solution. Does anyone know what the current solution is for this issue?
On mine I am not sure if I will be able to buff out the mark. I am having a hard time telling if the white mark is plastic that has rubbed off on top of the paint or if it has rubbed the paint off. Not sure the best way to try and remove it.

I'm sorry to hear about your sliding door issue.
It would be beneficial to mention the issue during your Friday appointment. I have confirmed this issue can be addressed. Be sure to demonstrate the contact for the Service Dept. and speak with the Service Manager.
Keep us posted on the results if you can!
I did mention it at the service appointment. The advisor said they "adjusted the doors". That will only help it getting worse. What about the damage that has already been done?

I am having the same issue on a 2012 and have been to the dealership no less than 15 times trying to resolve the issue. It has gotten to the point that the dealership is accusing me of do the damage. I am not sure what benefit they think this is to me, has anyone found a valid fix to this issue?

I'm sorry to hear about your sliding door issue. When was the last attempt to repair? Have you had a chance to speak with the Service Manager directly?
My family just purchased a 2012 Grand Caravan and I have noticed this rubbing on the drivers side quarter panel above the wheel well. I tried to buff it out, but it just keeps reappearing. What do I need to do to get satisfactory service from a dealership? Thanks.
