Default no spark till 8 revolutions

Have a 04 grand caravan the will start after 8 rotations everytime. Doesn't get spark until the 8th rotation. When it starts it will idle fine. Drivin down the road it falls on its face around 2700 rpms. Have replaced crank sensor, cam sensor, coil, ecu reflashed. Not sure what could be the problem

I assuming there are no error codes and if there are none, this problem can often be caused by a bad fuel pump module. The fuel pressure should be checked under different conditions and especially check to insure that pressure remains at spec after the engine has been shut off and has sat for several minutes.

There are no engine codes. Fuel pressure is where it should be.

New fuel pump. No change. Have been switching other sensors with a donor van with no luck.

Have some good news. Was playing with the cam sensor and noticed a wire that was rubbed in half.

Thanks for the report. Your description matches a cam sensor malfunction. On the gen 3 and later vehicles, a cam sensor malfunction will still allow the vehicle to start (in most cases), but it takes a bit of cranking.

I'm surprised there was no code.

More evidence the OBD system is not all it should be.

Do you recall the wire ID colors?

The broken wire fixed it. But the next day it was back to the same problem. Started putting old sensors back in. Still nothing. new plugs and wires, slight improvement at idle. Noticed alot of moisture out of exhaust. Idles high around 1500 rpm.

Not sure what is ment by wire color id.

Is there still a code for the cam position sensor?
(be sure to reset the old code first... then after several tries, see if the code comes back)
