[2nd Gen : 91-95]: Having trouble finding a rear wheel hub
Hi. I need a rear wheel hub for my 1992 Caravan. It is front-wheel drive. All of the rear hub part numbers that I've seen are for AWD. Does anyone have insight into part numbers for the front-wheel drive rear wheel hub? Many thanks...
You can't actually get a rear hub, but you can buy the bearings. I'll see if I can find the part numbers as I had to pull my old bearings out, take them to a parts house, and have them cross-reference the numbers. There are 2 bearings on the hub, 1 inner, 1 outer.
I may not be able to find my paper work (I will see if I still have it), so if you have it apart, pull the bearings out, take them somewhere, have them match it up.

You can find part numbers for the bearings on the RockAuto website:

Thanks, guys. So is it that they no longer sell the whole hub for the front-wheel drive version of my vehicle? Maybe I need to get it used? Because the actual reason that my mechanic wants to change the hub is that my lugs came loose (too much anti-seize), and I didn't notice it right away and drove the vehicle like that, and now the hub itself has some play in it where there shouldn't be any play. I don't believe changing the bearings will resolve what my mechanic wants to resolve. Hope this makes sense...
The only way the hub would have play is bad bearings. If he means he can't get the lugs tight enough due to the threads getting messed up, then he just needs to put in new wheel studs, which press into the hub and can be found here: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...,lug+stud,7680
Fair warning, be very careful with mechanics on these old vans. There aren't many around who actually know how to work on them anymore.

After dealing with numerous inept mechanics around here, I now do everything myself. What I don't know, I use a manual and learn. After having pretty much every shop around do something wrong, you just start doing it yourself.

Yeah, it's like the movies where if the guy cuts the wrong wire on the detonator, he blows it all up....
Thanks, Smokesxt. The mechanic did initially change all the studs because they did get messed up, and I recently questioned if we should change the bearings since a wheel hub is unavailable. He said yes, that will resolve the play. So that will be the course of action. Thank you!
Just following up for those who may look at this thread and be as confused as I originally was. After seeing what parts were available and not, I called Timken to confirm. For the rear, you can only purchase the bearings, NOT the whole hub. And for the front, you can only purchase the whole hub, NOT just the bearings. Thanks as always to smokesxt, who helped steer me in the right direction.
