1995 Caravan Heavy Torque Steer
1995 Grand Caravan SE 3.3 V6
Symptom of torque steer on acceleration. Front end tight (new ball joints/ tie rod ends, etc....) Rebuilt transmission (problem was there before transmission was replaced), new half shaft on drivers side. Long style drive axle on right side (not the hanger bearing style).
Driving under light acceleration, the van noticeably goes off to the left and the steering wheel goes crooked. Let up off the gas and the van "snaps" back to the right and the steering wheel is straight again. This happens at all speeds and can be duplicated with ease. Cruising down the highway under acceleration, the van pulls left, let off the gas and she goes straight. This has been happening for a long time and several people say several different things. A little torque steer is normal, but this is the "grab the wheel" kind.
Looking for anyone who has experienced the same phenonemon and found a fix for it.
Thanks!

If the brakes were doing that kind of grabbing, I'd think there would be a definate smell from the brakes because they would have to be getting hot to constantly have that kind of pull. True torque steer is caused by the axle twististing upon rapid acceleration. What you describe is a pull.
torque steer is a product of an open differential on a "normally" higher powered FWD
my van never really suffered from it, so its definetly the suspension is out of whack
take her to a shop & have the front end aligned, it should go away, if it doesn't then something bigger is cookin' in there

I agree with all that , but when you have (and I a exagerate a little) a 6 inch axle on driver side and a 6 foot axle on the passenger side, it doesn't help. That's why the subaru's don't torque steer, all 4 axels are equal length.
By the way, How's that manual coming in the caravan Greg?

one of the first things i wanna do is the manual swap, then worry about the rest later
