New Challenger?
Ya whatever.
It's awesome. If you don't like it, that's cool, to each his own, maybe you just don't like Challengers.
And if they want to sell this to me, I'll buy. I'm an all-grown-up, 36 y/o professional, with a house, and wife and I'm not stuck in the damn past and my taste is far from crusty.
Ha. Especially if they drop that 392 in it, it'll blow the doors off that Charger Sedan in all departments.
In the face of most everything else out there that looks the same from 20 feet away this will be a breath of fresh air. Old is new again.
And I don't care *when* someone came up with the design, I just care *what* it is and how it is being applied.
I really hope this makes it to production.

I LOVE Challengers. I didn't say anyone's taste was crusty or they were stuck in the past.
But we did not go through 35 years of technology and designs to make an almost exact replica of the Challenger.
That things looks horrible aerodynamic wise. Old school is fine and dandy but this thing does need a little bit of new in it.
I'm not worried any way. I know this thing will look a lot different when it's done. So I'm just fine over here.

Haha. No, not you, (sorry) ...in a local paper insert, DCX's blurb on the Charger said "...it's not the crusty two-door that the timewarp types were praying for". An odd approach if you ask me
I know that change makes sense when it comes to technical application -- and there's a balance between that and style.
When is the name and story no longer applicable though? I suppose it's all subjective, and any further discussion will only lead back to another car for me.
I just don't see any sacrifices here, not for me, nor do I really see any thing not aerodynamic. It's sure a heck of a lot more streamline in styling than the other 3. Though I'll admit I don't know how the exact angles and contours of the others perform in the tunnel, but -- there is a point where you can tell a fish is more streamline than a box.
I'm just pot stirring and expressing my applause for the job they've done on this. I can't deal with any more friction and would like to see an effort from DCX that will truly have me referring to it as a Mopar.
The entire Charger effort was/is a frustrating mix of too many things for me to say the least and some odd tactics by DCX. But whatever.
I'm just hoping things end up getting a little more harmoneous in the DCX community, and at very least more in truly touch with old Mopar, vs the feeling of DCX simply *using* selective history and envouraging some sort of competitive atmosphere with that history they bought.
As far as this car itself. I'll certainly take it as it is in a snap, but wouldn't mind seeing a tweak or two to that tail light, and maybe the grille/headlights. But keep the sheet metal as it is. That's a decent front end.
In the end though, I suppose it's just plain up to them as to how they want to be viewed, and how many, and which customers they want to attract. If the answer is "as many as possible"...they have a little work to do, but for me, an offering like this helps

This is what I mean Plum... I wish they would put more of this original Charger concept into it. Specifically the edges of the grill, muscle style rear sides and the tail lights...
This is just an example. But do you see how much sleeker the Charger concept is?

We can't afford to sacrifice looks for terrible aerodynamics. Which is what this concept is doing. We want a new look with a hint of old school design. We don't want to all of the old school design or we are taking steps backwards.
The Mustang and GT were done perfectly. Not too old school, not too new.
I just hope it looks a little different when they are done...

Sorry MidnightBlueNeon. I misunderstood. I see what you mean.
Think Chrysler really nailed the back 3/4 of that '99 concept, I just wasn't crazy over the front though.
This still works for me, but I see where you are coming from.

Ok,newbie putting his 2 cents in. Yes I love the Challenger (concept), no I didn't like the new Charger at first-it's growing on me. If they had followed the basic lines of the 97 concept there would be one in my garage right now 4 doors or 2. I can't understand all the bickering. Remember what your choices were 20 years ago when it came to buying a MOPAR! What's the problem with a choice of old school looks or new with the advantages of modern day technolgy and comfort. The point is WE HAVE SOME CHOICES NOW! I'm hopeful they will build the new Challenger and stay close to the spirit and styling of the original, remember that you could get it loaded or a stripper with a Hemi. As for aero other than some front end lift at around 120 the original seemed pretty aero even with the open mouth grill. Yes I Have fond memories of that car, it was fun! Now we are getting MOPARS that are fun again that are reasonably affordable. What's the point of arguing? Go out and get one of you're liking and have fun!
guys..thats not the challenger...if u cant notice..all that is is a older challenger and some guy put a font clip and rear body kit on it...look at the rear window like, thin chrome moldings arund the windows? that doesnt happen these days..imo, i think sum guy just took a older one and put a new face on it..plus, if it were the real deal, why would it just be sitting in the middle of that field, uncovered, with no tarps or anythnig on it like u see cars in spy shots....
another thnig..u ppl are killing me! when they released the chrager, it wasnt retro enouggh..it has 4 dours, oh its too new, now u see a beauioful car that looks old schol with brand new sheetmetal.
