That "chrome" molding is the sun reflecting off of the paint. The same reflection that is on the edge of the trunk lid. Maybe there is some chrome on the trunk lid as well eh?

Ya. Apparently it was out for a shoot when the pics were taken. The sketch actually had been released for internal purposes at DCX, and when they found out about the shots -- they wanted to get it out fast.
Ya I had my doubts - I thought it might have been photoshopped - friend here at work contemplated the resto/moded E-body theory and all. I think most of the doubt rose out of a "this is too good to be true" mindset though.
It's thought to be more than a concept by some reliable folks, rather an S1 car that is intended for production with far more considered with that in mind, and much further along than a concept.
Essentially, I believe it just needs the "go-ahead".

I like it!
I just hope that before production they work on the ratio of the front grill to the front bumper.
It just looks to me like the front bumper is to "tall" in relation to the grill.
There is to much "plastic" under the grill.
The back isn't as bad but it still is a fat rear bumper and they should do the rear light in two sections.
*just my opinions*
Other than that I love the the general concept and the direction Chrysler is taking with it.

Hey guys, with the trend being away from SUV's and more towards the traditional passenger car there is a very real possibility that this concept will become a reality. Chrysler was way late at producing a "pony car" back in the day. With the popularity of the retro Mustang and the news GM is bringing back the Camaro do you think DCX will miss the boat this time around. It's kinda like the old days of win on Sunday sell on Monday. Introduce fresh products that stir intrest in the brand and get 'em in the showroom. Look at chryslers history let's just say in the last 25 yrs. 80's-cars (from everyone) junk-Caravan. 90's-everone making minivans (diluted sales)-redesign Ram-LH cars. 00's-Hey!(We're onto something)-redesign Ram- 300 platform. Us Mopar lovers are riding the wave along with DCX and I think they have done some homework (at least in history) and understand marketing an American product. It has to look, feel, sound and smell American and if that Challenger concept doesn't fit this criteria nothing will. I'm with MGDMike on this one, "Just a sign of good things to come." I'll add it just doesn't get any better than this, they have seen the future and it is now with a little flavor from when we were proud of what the big three put out.
that is a brenda priddy picture...and for those who dont know, she is somehow the authority on spy shots of mopar products...mos tof the spy photos you see are from her, or chris doane...if you see a watermarked priddy picture, it isnt a photo chop of another car...her and her associates are SO ridiculously lawsuit-happy, that thwy would go after anyone who used their "precious" name...
also, someone said that NAIAS stated that a new challenger would be there...where did the person who said that, read/hear that?

To all those purists who still can’t forgive Dodge for building a four-door Charger, here’s your answer: the 2006 Dodge Challenger concept. The Dodge boys released a sketch of the car to the world, but we obtained these exclusive spy photos of the car, which will premiere at the North American International Auto Show in January in Detroit.
