So Let's say I want to start small (just happy to own a Charger R/T right now). I am also fixing up a beat to heck 1991 Dodge Dakota so most "extra" money will be going into the truck to get that up to par. But I am interested in the CAI. Is this worth the money? How much HP gain will I get. How does it sound?

MOPAR or K&N?

Thanks for helping a newbie.

IMHO they are worth it but I would stick with the cheap E-bay ones. I just don't see $200 improvement between the Ebay ones and the high dollar ones. They do sell them for the chargers on ebay don't they, I know they do for my ram.

No I just used the drop in K&N I really can't justify the difference to get a CAI now that I have it. If I had known abouth the ebay kits then I would have given it a try. Several people on the Ram thread have tried them and I haven't heard anything bad about them other then the fit isn't always perfect but they say if you have any kind of fab skills they are easy to make perfect.

You got to watch out on ebay cause some company's won't except the warrenty fromebay salers. Only get it if your worry more about the price more than thewarrenty. I like the warrenty just in case something goes wrong I can just call the company and have them send another if it's needed.

Stroker,
I'm stepping in the middle of this, but are these things worth it? I mean, YOU bought the K&N, as so did I and I have never had problems with my "big-buck" K&N, so why put these poor newbie's onto low buck junk? Myself, I would never buy that stuff even if I knew about it anyway... Ok, you can get mad at me, but of all the things I have learned in my life is -- you get what you pay for!

I will be going with the K&N 63 Series......between now and JAN

In 2008 I will replace the exhaust. I like what I see with Borla so far. Oh yeah....and Superchips programmer.

NOS and Headers will have to wait. For the rest of 2007....I am going to enjoy my RT in stock fashion except maybe for the K&N CAI.
