Default Oil loss

I am considering buying one of these Chargers for my wife, unless she want the Mercedes SLK350 instead. Only thing bothers me about SLK350 is alot of messages on forum about oil consumption of a quart every 1000 miles or less, and Benz is saying its normal. Is anyone having these kinds of oil usage issues with the Charger engines? Which car would be more dependable, your thoughts?

Thank you inadvance.

Mercedes has huge quality problems now from what i understand, and i don't hear people bitching about the magnum or 300 which carries the same engines having oil problems. there are many other vehicles carrying the 3.5 and 5.7 and i don't hear ram owners or Pacifica owners having oil troubles either.

Im going to take her to dealership tomorrow for test drive. Another issue is the Benz dealership is an hour away from my house, so servicing can be a problem. I guess bottom line is whatever she wants she will get.

She has a Caddy STS now, but keeps blowing head gaskets. Im being presumptious but think she may go for the R/T with a lot of options.

No its a 2000 STS. Car is running great now, so want to get rid of it before anything else happens. Its a shame because its a very nice car.

I'm not surprised heard about the head gasket problems on the Cadillac Northstar line-up. Those are made out of two Quad-4 engines. Those were known for having lots of headgasket problems. I think it would be a good idea to rid of it. I doubt it has seen the last of its headgasket problems. They are also known for some electrical problems as well.

I think your wife would be satisfied with the change. The interior of the R/T package is very luxurious and elegant, yet sporty. It carries over most of the things that the Chrysler 300 series offers. As for the new STS engines. I think the only difference between the new STS V8 engine and the old one is the new one has VVT and a hp and tq boost. So chances are the new STS would probably have the same problems, unfortuneatly. I think the V6 base engine on the new STS (3.6) is just a V6 version of the V8. I wish GM would replace the old Quad-4 based Northstar with a new V8 based off of the more reliable Echotech I4 line up.

Well...

It is raining heavy so we decided to delay our test drive until after the rain clears in a few days.

Ill let everyone know what happens. Already she is telling me, the car probably wont be what she wants because it is not a convertible. LOL

Good grief!
