Default Starter.

What I told my daughter. Is if you can watch a YouTube video once and figure it out. Then do the work yourself. If you have to watch it 3 or 4 times and can't figure it out then take it to a mechanic.

There is probably two bolts holding the starter in place, and at least two wires. One of which is going to be coming from the battery. The other will go to the solenoid on the starter.

If the starter solenoid engages, the ignition switch is doing its job.

Nope. You are over-thinking the problem. If you hear the solenoid engage, (its a good solid thunk!) but the engine doesn't turn, then the starter is bad. If all you are hearing is the rather light click of the relay, then you have some more troubleshooting to do.

Does the starter actually turn the motor over?

What's clicking? The starter, or just the relay?
