My Daytona is a nice car. In fact, one of the nicest for the money. I have a 440 powered Superbee and I know what crappy gas mileage is. Try 6mpg cruising. I know what a headache that old car is but it's from another time era. Cars have come a long way. I have higher expectations for todays technology. That's why my car is $35,000 instead of $3500 back in 1969. I do enjoy my Daytona with it's great handling, nice power, and comfort. I just can't stand how big buisness gets away with filling are heads with lies. Then we take the bate and spend our hard earned money on a product that doesn't accomplished what we are told. I'm keeping my Dodges, shoot, do you realize how hard it would be to change my name... ie. drivers license, birth certificate, tatoos. Step up Dodge. You have the best product, Now up the stakes and give us what we are paying for.

By the way, the Vegas thing wouldn't work. I'm moving to Reno in November. Come down I-80 and we'll talk. That's what happens when you pull the trigger to save lives. 2 months admin and a transfer.[sm=violent053.gif]

Wow, I con't belive people don't know the diffrence between rear wheel HP and crank HP. 70 HP is a 20% reduction from the crank to rear wheels thats normal for any car. Accually thats really pretty good for a Auto tranny they ussally loss more.

I could make Vegas in June - as far as I know now, i.e., nothing to hold me back.

MY problem is DCX and their support - or lack thereof. They build a car and advertise it as a performance vehicle, then try to shut the door on us for warranty work if we have some bolt ons. AND, it would appear, it would be up to us to prove that our CAIs or after market exhaust did NOT cause the failure. That's what gets me. I'll probably keep it - for a while. But I don't think I'll be talking trash with anyone about how "hot" it is. Yes, it drives nice, nice amenities, etc. Can't disagree with that.

STi's and EVO's are preformance cars too, but take them to the track one time and the warrenty is void. It's just the car world, if they can void a warrenty they will and it's not just DCX, try modding any car and you can have problems with warrenty, it's really up to each dealer.

I am reading but I am not believing... You are having an opportunity to drive what will surely be the last generation of large displacement V8 engined cars. There will always be performance cars, just ones you cannot afford. Do not blame Dodge for retarding your performance, they are having to do it because of the retards that cannot properly handle the performance.

The answer is in the ECM module. Someone with intimate knowledge of its workings is the only way that you will ever see the performance potential of your car, and they have not stepped up to the plate yet. Perhaps a bribe pool needs to be formed in order to make it happen. Look what the Asari X-Prize did for space travel....

I will start the wheels in motion.... I hereby announce the IXLR8 prize, for the first person or team to fully disable the ECU's control over the performance of the car. The modification must be reversible and not require any wiring changes. I hereby offer $5.00 Five Dollars US for the first solution.

As 2coff stated, the 340 HP R/T and 350 HP Daytona are measured at the crank. RWHP at 270 is very respectable.
Bear in mind that the Charger is a 4,000 pound car (that STILL sets me back in the seat nicely when I thump the throttle). If I turn the traction control off, I can "break the rear wheels loose" at will, especially accelerating out of a turn. From everything I've seen, "drifters" use low profile tires with high air pressures to get the "slide" they crave. Factory equipped tires with thier higher sidewalls are meant to provide a compromise of comfortable ride, good performance, good wear, and safety.
As far as "warranty" isues are concerned, I've never "modded" a car and expected ANY manufacturer to repair damage to any part of the car I modified (that's like buying a new home and expecting the general contractor to repair your roof because you hired someone else a year or so afterward to install roof windows - possibly incorrectly - and the roof leaks). But I don't expect the dealership to deny warranty work on the transmission if I tinted the windows. I've never modified a vehicle's drivetrain until the warranty expired.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I'm not sure what anyone else expects when they buy a new car. I don't buy one with the intent of making immediate modifications. I buy the car I want as it sits on the dealer's lot. I save the "modding" for when I've had the car for some time, the "newness/novelty" has worn off, and instead of looking for another/different/new car (and payment book), I try making modifications to the one I have to "spice it up" because I'm bored with it as it is.

It's a lot like buying a stereo, folks...... If a 100 watt reciever doesn't provide the volume you desire, you need to DOUBLE the output to a 200 watt reciever to gain a perceptible difference. The same is basically true with cars - you need to spend twice as much to gain a perceptible difference.
On that note, anyone know where I can get a new Porsche 911 for $35,000.00?

I got my Charger because I had a Magnum R/T and when driving thru the dealer lot I saw a TB Daytona and HAD to have it! I had never read any literature on the Magnum R/T before I bought it. I liked it's looks first but when I test drove it...WOW! The acceleration and power were unlike anything I had until then. That's why I knew my TB Daytona would be even better.

Reading reviews in pubs and on the web is secondary to me. Sure it's nice to read a positive review which reinforces my purchase decision. But in the end it's how happy I AM with my car. And I , for one, an extremely happy with it. I get more comments on my Daytona then any other car I've had. When I roll up to the guard shack at work I always get a thumbs up from the guard, when I gas up at the filling station I always get comments from the clerk behind the counter or other customers, my neighbors are jealous of my car because it looks so cool. Friends that ride in it with me are always impressed with the performance and kick in the seat it gives when I punch the accelerator.

So all in all I am quite happy with my Charger.

All advertisements for cars are misleading. They always have been. It's their job to sell cars. If the bend or stretch the truth so what? if you don't like the car then you don't have to buy it. Chrysler/Dodge has come a long way and IMO they have a quality product. You can call me a fanboy if you want but I am a happy Dodge owner.
