I agree with everyone as far as what our cars were manufactured for and what their intended use is. My concern is this: Is there a problem that is starting to raise its ugly head and if so, what is it and what is causing it? If there is a problem, you'd think they would let us know. I was told - point blank by my salesman and his supervisor - that I could add on CAI, after market exhaust and even a chip! Now, they are saying we shouldn't? This is my concern. What is going on that suddenly there is this service bulletin? That's what I want to know? My car is great for what its intended use is - I have no arguments with that. Just want to know what is going on here that prompted this service bulletin to be issued. If that's wrong, excuse me. I'm not looking for the "wambulance". Just answers. Where is "dodgdlr". I thought he would maybe jump in and give us some explanation. Maybe he doesn't have one; maybe DCX isn't telling their dealers what's going on, either.

Im starting to think that the source of some of you problems are your dealerships and not dodge. I allready have hade warranty work done to small things as the badges to the Nav (button broke)and my dealership gave me coffe and tv while i waited
And as for the motor is concerned a cai and exaust (exept for covering the stock exhaust if theres headers installed but who gives a **** really)should not void the warranty according to my dealership. And as far as chips go it all depends on the situation like for example at my dealership they have an SRT-10 that a guy used a cheap aftermarket computer flasher and now it thinks its an automatic. And they cant refalsh it.In this case no one should expect DC to pay for it.
And i know this much
When a car comes in to a dealership and such car is deamed to need warranty work by the TECHS then they hafta call star (DCX centrall parts department) and there job is to make shure there isnt any false claims.Well if you got a flacky tech and/or dealership it makes that step harder. All im saying theres alot more accountibility on your dealership as oppose to dodge it self

I think all this really got started on another thread that mentioned some kind of "service bulletin" in which service departments were told to not honor the warranty on cars that had any kind of mod if that mod "COULD" have caused the initial failure. That lead to the conclusion that, although some of us were told that chips, CAI, etc. were on their way, and there would be no warranty problems, i.e., the bolt-on part in and of itself would not void the warranty, now DCX is, in the minds of some, "declaring war", and inferring that we cannot put bolt-on parts on our cars, and that if there is a bolt on, after market part, it is probably the cause for the failure. That in turn lead to speculation that there is a problem somewhere - either in the bottom end or the valve train or transmission that has raised its ugly head, and that DCX is looking for a "way out". Apparently, there must have been failures of a certain part or area of the drive train that has brought all this on, but we don't know what it is. If we knew, then we could possibly take steps to protect that part or area and maintain our warranties. That's like a person buying a .22 riffle and then gets .22 long riffle bullets, then finds out he can't use anything but shorts in it because the .22 longs cause problems - even though they are made for riffles, but the manufacturer won't say what the problem is. Stupid analogy, but all I could think of right now. I hope you know what I'm trying to say.

If anyone has hard, concrete proof (and not that PDF file letter from DCX) that dealerships are denying warranty coverage based on bolt-on CAI's, chips, ehaust sytems, etc. or whatever then let's hear the FACTS..not speculation.
It seems like everyone is quick to bash the dealers. There are good dealers and there are bad dealers. I've seen stuff on all the forums where one dealer will gladly warranty repair a problem that another dealer wouldn't touch the exact same problem with a 10 foot pole. Just because you have a warranty doesn't mean you as a buyer can abuse or modify the product. Each case is different and all we see is one point of view (from the forum poster) and we don't know the full story. The are always small, key details that get omitted in the telling of the story that could be crucial to the outcome. And we all know how people like to "one-up" the other members here to show how great the service we got was and how special we are. You have to take what you read here with a grain of salt.
I think DCX sees how incredibly popular the Charger has become to horsepower boosting modifications and wants to head things off before they spin out of control. I am willing to bet this sort of "popularity " was not as fully expected as it has turned out to be. it could very well be the 5.7L Hemi is already at the edge of the envelope (so to speak) and that hopping it up any further could lead to a failure point that wasn't expected when car enthusiasts are let loose.
But let's all wait and see what the facts are before deriding DCX and dealers.
As for the original intent of this post to say that advertising claims were grossly exagerated by DCX to me is to be expected. Don't you ever read the fine print on the screen "professional driver on a closed course" ? have you ever seen a truck commercial with all the mud flying around? have any of you really tried to drive your Ford F150 or Chevy Silverado like that? If you did I'd bet you a million bucks you'd get stuck. It's advertising people, it's designed to get you excited and turned on about the product to go out and buy it. And guess what? IT WORKED! You all bought Chargers based on the ads. Do you want to charge Budwieser with BS advertising because you don't have all those hot chicks around you when you crack open a Bud Light? Or Kool cigarettes becauase you didn't acheive the lifestyle their ad models aspired to? Hell, pick any ad out you want and you'll find 1000% exageration. that is th job of advertising.
'nuff said. I'll get off the soap box now....

The Fine Print I never Saw...
Professional driver on a closed course. In no way should this product be abused in the ways we have shown. These statements, specifications, and photos should be used for entertainment purposes only. The Dodge Charger and the Daytona package is just a replication to what once was a true "Muscle Car". This car is not intended to be a "Muscle Car". It is nothing more than a sticker kit. What wins on Sunday, does not sell on Moday anymore. In the event of this product being used for any other purpose beyond slow driving, DCX takes no responsibility and there for the warranty is void. Any modification or addition, including pine tree shaped air fresheners, will void the warranty. Gas Mileage Specification are under controled conditions with a tail wind, speed set at 50 mph, slight negitive roadway grade, and the MDS acctivated with our hand held scan tool. With the use of less throttle, always drive carefully. Please wear your seatbelt!
