Dodge Charger The Dodge Charger. The car that made its competitors shiver in the 60's is reborn in 2006 into a sleek sedan that can still send the competition home wimpering, the Dodge Charger.

The car is great, but I do believe that we shouldnt have to stomp on the brake and gas to do a great burnout.(we have got a 35,000$ car that says HEMI on it IMO it should smoke em)Maybe if they get their heads out of their asses and realize gramma isnt driven them it would be lots better for me anyways.I also didnt buy the car to mod the crap out of it,but we have to try and get the xtra edge.It says HEMIon the side I think of RUBBER flyin, smoke rolling not some little squeal.I get the littl squeal out of my 3.1 V6 Monte, and I got a 1989 GMC with 200,00 miles on that will smoke em if I hold the brake and mash the gas.I am not bashing the car it is very nice, its just not living up to its HEMI name IMO is all .

Yes, I love my Charger R/T.

"340 at the crank".

I dont care the car has more power then any other car off the lot for the price. But it looks so different then any other car that has been made. Yes i have made mods. To make my car, so as it does not look like the other thousands made. And I have worked in Automotive shops and it is up to the dealer and or shop to prove what you have done has damaged the car. And not just because you had added some items.

Anyways have a nice day. Then go get in your car sart it up drive up to the on ramp to the freeway, smash the pedal to the floor and see if that dont put a smile back on your face.

If you want tire smoke, go ahead and put the best tire available in 1969 on your car, the Goodyear 70 series Polyglass GT bias ply tires. You could smoke those tires all day long on your Charger. Chances are, you do not even know the difference between the old muscle car era bias ply tires and modern radials... On the other hand my Daytona came with some of the best sticky, long wearing, 55 series tires, that I have ever owned. The reason you can't burnout like ya used to could, is that the tire technology has come a long way. Try driving your car on a track with some curves, you would spank ANY 60's musclecar by wide margin. Such is the technology of your car, a resonable 1/4 miler, with great handling suspension in the turns.

Mike,

WOW. Did you ever hit a nerve with this one! Bash, boom, bang and ka-pow! Reading all these posts, I feel I'm watching an old Batman show .

Reno, eh? Beautiful place, cooler and maybe you'll have to put snowtires on your Daytona... I'm not trying to ignore the fact this is happening because you decided to either protect yourself or someone else... such is the life of a peace officer nowadays. Always on the line -- criminals in the front, political subdivisions on the backside that refuse to back their officers. People don't realize the criminals have the rights on their side and the victims are forgotten. The whiny media makes sure the bad guys are protected. It's twisted completely bassackwards these days. God Bless you Mike. I applaud you and you have my admiration. [sm=deal.gif]

Im shocked to see all this
1: I honestly dont get what every one is talking about here.I can come to a complete stop then just mash the throttle and spin the tires in one spot for a good 4sec and skate my rear for another 20-30 feet.I dont get everyone elses claims?

2:My brother is a DC master tech and said that the flood gate for the 5.7 is in the heads/valves and the fuel delivering system and tuned for such. This is his take on it with knowing the enginering of the motor and his experience .He admits the after market isnt there yet but will come around eventaully.

3.And when asked how much the stock drive train could take he said there isnt to many worries there.
look at the srt8 and then over biuld the tranny and thats where we are at.

06HEMIazy,

I appreciate your confusion with some of the frustration you read on this thread. Much of it comes from notification to the Stealership Servless Procunfusional, that aftermarket mods do substantial engine damage and that damage caused by these mods are viable reasons to void a warrantee. I thoroughly understand everyone's frustration, though I believe after much research that I understand why DCX has gone to these lengths.

I wrote a brief technical post about the difference Between the 5.7 and the improvements made on the 6.1. If you look closely there are some substantial weaknesses that we are only now becoming aware of. Part of my information came from the link immediately below. The last link is to the thread where we discuss the option of NOS as a performance modification alternative.

https://dodgeforum.com/m_550408/tm.htm

I hope this help you understand the unit, and the issues irritating the well intentioned gearhead.
Be safe out there.

My frustration stems from the aforementioned service bulletin about after market bolt ons messing the engine up. I see it as a "way out" if something should happen and you take it in for warranty work. That's my concern. Should I leave my CAI on, my JET chip in, the program from the SC? Or should I put it back to stock? It definitely runs better with these mods, but at what price, and paid by whom?

I agree that notice is disturbing. My dealer is a total jack *** too.

If I have an issue w/ my car and it gets tied to the Mopar CIA I will never buy Dodge again. F- them!

Chevy already let me down w/ my 96 Impala SS. Freaking car fell part at 60k miles. I babied it too! ha!

Where is that Daytona, 73 ,12 second Charger driving beer guy I need his comical postings?

OK....

What should DCX do?

Their main goal is to produce a vehicle that will appeal to 99% of the driving population. In order to do this they have to make certain concessions to allow for cost, producibility, federal regulations, insurance requirements and emission standards. In reality the Chargers we drive at compromises of all these driving criteria. this carr CANNOT be all things to all drivers. Even back in the early 70's sales of a 426 hemi powered Charger or Challenger were miniscule. They apeealed only to a small minority that could afford them. Things are no different today.

Do most of you think you're going to go into a showroom and drive off the lot with a 12 second car that will cost you $35K? it's not going to happen. Speed costs. That's the rule. The more horespower you want will require more money. It's always been that way and always will.

What do most of you want to do with your Charger? Go fast off the line and do the 1/4 mile in less than 12 seconds? Or....have a top end speed of 160+MPH and stick-to-the-road-like-glue handling? I have news for you....you can't have both with out some sort of compromise in performance AND still keep the cost down below $35K

Foy you guys putting NOS in your cars...how long do you think you can do that before something breaks? Production cars will not withstand unlimited shots of NOS before you burn a piston or throw a rod. The manufacturer uses the cheapest, most cost effective way to build their engines. You can take that to the bank. this means just enough to hold up under NORMAL driving conditions (where, again, 99% of the users will be using the engine)

If I made engines and provided a warranty I would certainly void it if I found out the buyer was doing things to the engine that was never intended to be done with it. That only makes good business sense. If you are so worried about the warranty coverage then drive the car until the warranty expires and then trick it out. DC also had provisos on their old school hemi powered vehicles that if you were found to be moidding or racing them and tried to claim warranty services you would be denied. Why should things be any different today than 30 years ago?

I plan on keeping my Daytona stock. I bought it for the styling and performance it had out-of-the-box. there's nothing wrong with it that way. In 3 years or 36K miles when the warranty is up then I may consider hopping it up. But for right now I am very, very happy with it.

This isn't a "I hate my car" topic. It's a post of the BS DCX feeds us so we buy their product. Do you really think Dodge cares further then just making profit. They could careless about heritage muscle cars or having the quickest meanest cars. They want whatever gets the $$$ including voiding warranty calims (money saved right). My name is Moparmike, do you think they care that I am a loyal follower and that I have had many heated discussion of brand X and my Mopars. I'm not expecting a 4 door Viper, I expecting my car to do what the manufacturer shows. Don't sell me MDS that doesn't perform like they say. Don't show me Chargers going sideways and endlessly smoking the tires we it won't happen. I'm a state trooper and trust me, I hate liars.
