ALL HANDS ON DECK ESP IS DEAD
in reguards to the mod previously posted about removing the center console splicing wires and installing a switch to kill the esp.its a go its a go awesome easy and cheap well im not a wire splicer so i have to get that done today removed the console and removed the plug to the unit driving around with a disassembled center console pretty funny .but it works like advertised,i pull the plug while driving as if i threw the switch esp bass light and the car with the squigly arrows comes on i reinsert the plug turn car of then on and walla back to normal .i was doing things that would make any 60 muscle car era owner proud hal has a new name and face its called mod
think of it as putting hal into hybernation while messing around the waking his rear up for regular driving and for about 5 bucks and 30 for the guy who is going to do the splicing a lot better and cheaper.now working on a fan mod something to do with relays if anyone has details im listning .[

Great to hear, sounds like a easy/cheap/worthy mod.
Well done, the mod has be put through the "myth buster" and it aint no myth.... SWEET!
I got some information somewhere on the fan mods. I'll search for it once I get home.

Why do you want to totally disable the ESP?
When I turn it off I can fry my tires while the car is rolling 15mph. Why spend more $$ on tires and it is really great in the rain.
Freaking Austin's roads are like ice when it rains and 80% of the town CANT drive! (I originally from NYC)

well its not permantly dead it goes on and off at the flip of a switch .on reg driving conditions you leave esp on then when a pustang thinks he wants to take you or you wanna get a new set of tires walla flip switch ,new tires on there way .best of both worlds.
ok here are the details at first it seemed complex then at the end it was actually pretty easy ,my only problem is that im not good at splicing wires so that was done by a pro cost 30 bucks.still cheaper then 200 bucks.but basiclly ill try to make it simple remove the 3 bolts from the center console first lift the rubber mat covering them the pop the silver ring around shifter use screw driver then remove the plastic mat in front of the shifter you will see 2 screws remove them .then pop the plastic shifter using a screw driver there are 2 sets of 2 clips .2 in the front and 2 in the back take the screw driver slide it in between the cup holder and the cover it will require a little leverage then repeat in the front.the cover will then just pop up remove now the last 2 screws are located behind the center dash cover litterally behind the area where the seat heater buttons are.to remove this is real simple that screw driver again slide it in between the plastic center console and the black lower section where the heater buttons apply some downward rear pressure it will pop off tehn there will be 2 screws after there removal the console will now be free down pull it quickly the cigarette liter relay is still attached simply reach in and unplug it .once thats done there will be a smal box with a side plug remove the plug dit itr carefully itss very fragile plastic mine broke used a tywrap to reinstall.once you pull it out the plug will have 4 wires 2 white and the one we are concered with is the purple wire with a blue strip.cut it about midway now as far splicing goes you can either get clips or tie ends together and electrical tap the together personel choice as well as type of switch you use the wire coming from the gear box i put to the power post on the switch and the wire coming from the unit to the acc post on the switch.then select where you want to put it i ended up selecting my loccation as .the little item holder along the shifter all the way at the bottom towards the front of the bottom its a real small switch which can be easily covered by some change neatly tucked away from the prying eyes of a dealer tech.then once your happy with the wire splicing and drilling simply reverse these steps the process for taking it aprt should take about an hour simply because you will go slow since it wil be the first ou do it if i went out side i would take about 15 minutes now because ive done it already .then once done go play and kick the tires and light the fires.you will have shut off and turn the car back on after you disengage the esp to reset computer back to normal...

yes it works like this on start up the car does a quick diagnostic check when it detects no communication with the accelerometer thats the boxes name it will disengage it self ,i guess it goes under the principle dont make a bad situation bad gives the indication light for you to check out and when you shut the car of return the switch back to off the car again will do a quick diagnostic check sence the accelerometer and walla no light on dash it really is deceptivly simple
