Rear Diff Recall
After all the controversy with the rear diff problem the topic has fallen off the radar screen, were are we with the recall, what model years are affected, has anyone had there issues resolved ?
Good luck if you need help, they havent fixed my 2010 yet, and this has been going on since the truck was new in 2010.
If your vehicle was one of the affected trucks you should have received a notice such as the one below. Once the parts become available another notice will be sent out.
SAFETY RECALL M34 / NHTSA 12V-474
REAR AXLE PINION NUT
Dear: (Name)
This interim notification letter is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Chrysler has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in some 2009 and 2010 model year Ram 1500 series trucks and Dodge Dakota trucks equipped with a 9.25” rear axle.
The problem is...
The rear axle pinion nut on your truck (VIN: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) may have been built without an adhesive patch on the pinion nut threads. The lack of this adhesive patch could allow the rear axle pinion nut to loosen and/or the rear driveshaft to separate from the rear axle. A loose pinion nut could cause the rear axle to seize and a separated driveshaft could cause a loss of motive power. Either situation could cause a crash without warning.
What Chrysler is doing...
Chrysler intends to repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). Unfortunately, the parts required to provide a permanent remedy for this condition are currently not available. Chrysler anticipates the remedy parts will be available within the 1st quarter of 2013. Chrysler will contact you again by mail, with a follow-up recall notice, when the remedy parts are available.
What you must do to ensure your safety...
Once you receive your follow-up recall notice in the mail, simply contact your Chrysler, Jeep, or Dodge dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Ask the dealer to hold the parts for your vehicle or to order them before your appointment.
If you need help...
If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Chrysler Group Recall Assistance Center at 1-800-853-1403.
If you have already experienced this condition and have paid to have it repaired, please send your original receipts and/or other adequate proof of payment to the following address for reimbursement: Chrysler Customer Assistance, P.O. Box 21-8007, Auburn Hills, MI 48321-8007, Attention: Reimbursement. Once we receive and verify the required documents, reimbursement will be sent to you within 60 days.

I get that the recall would still apply, but I'm curious about DodgeCares comment:
Because it implies that if the OP didn't get a notice, he's not covered under the recall, but I'm doubtful that Dodge has access to all the used-car sales records across the country. However, they may have some agreements with state governments to get this type of information in safety recall cases, which is why I'm curious about it.

Saber,
While eventually most vins get updated with the owner info at Chrysler via numerous sources, it is certainly possible that if you are not the original owner or perhaps you moved that you would not get the notice. It could be that you purchased the vehicle after the notices went out or maybe your vehicle is in a lease company name and the notice goes to them that you may not get a notice. If anyone has any doubts as to if their vehicle is covered under a recall you can contact a Chrysler dealer with your vin, contact the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center at one of the numbers below, or PM me your vin with a request to check for recalls on your vehicle. While Chrysler will certainly try to reach every customer that is affected by a recall, I still run across vins that have unperformed recalls, even when looking up build sheets for forum members.

DodgeCares is absolutely correct on the recall, my dealer said parts will be avail in beginning of 13', and will be notified, you can also check your vin online to see if it under the recall at mopar.com I did and it worked.
