Default Hello fellow Magnum fanatics

Hey, just wanted to say hello, just ordered a cool vanilla RT AWD yesterday, have been a big fan of the looks of the magnum since it came out, I'm not a dodge fanatic, a hemi fanatic, I used to be a chevy guy, had nothing but chevy trucks since I was 17, got stationed in germany, and couldn't stand the fact that I couldn't go over 115mph on the autobahn, so I sold the truck and bought a 2000 323i, which peaked out at 138mph (german govenor on a US spec'd car) and after 5 years of owning my tricked out 3er, I've got a baby boy ready to pop out in literally days. So I made the decision to sell the 3er and get me a badass wagon. So here I am. Anybody know about the eibach lowering springs for sale on tirerack? Do they apply to the AWD as well? If I get nothing out of the "old timers" here, I'll give tirerack a call in a day or two. Plan on going to 20" polished rims, magnaflow exhaust, K&N intake, some kind of aftermarket engine programming when it comes available, hoping in the spring right when the car gets delivered. And I will probably go ahead and put in the Denso Iridium plugs with Ignition Solution Coils to really improve the spark. Not looking to supercharge, this is going to be the cool dad mobile. I'll end up getting another BMW in a few years and get back to really tweaking cars when the boy can pick up a wrench. I'm thinking I'm not happy with the Boston Acoustic 6 speaker system, have always been into stereos, have always put them in myself, and at the start at 17, I had the annoying bass heavy systems, not much emphasis in quality, and not at 31, I'm into high quality with a little punch. I've read the amp in the 6 speaker system is supposed to be 280+ watts, anybody know where it's located? I want to replace it with a 5 channel Alpine, and swap the speakers out with Infinity Kappa Perfects 6.1 in the fronts, 5.1's in the rear and a single 10" Infinity Perfect in a little hatchback box until I can get enough time to make a custom fiberglass encloser in one of the big pockets in the rear.

Anyways, I'm excited and ready to get my car in a couple months, personalize it and represent with mopar like I did with bmw when I owned that.

Just got off the phone with tirerack, the tech guy absolutely verifies that the lowering springs they have will fit a all wheel drive rt with the load leveling/tow package, which is great, and when I asked him about eibachs future antisway bars coming, their best guesstimate is feb 2005, which should be right around the time my car gets here, and for $310 for the kit. I hope to have the rims/tires and suspension all sitting at home waiting for the day of delivery, just drive it home from the dealer and put it in the garage and later on that night, drive it out lowered and looking sweet. Ideally, I'ld like to have the exhaust and the CAI put on that same day too....so damn stoked to have a new car!!!!

Thanks! And I'm not a brand *****, not the typical BMW elitist ***** who can't work on their own car or change their oil. I love cars for the aethetics and performance, all brands have their pros and cons. I'm one of the few Non-M3 E46 (the latest 3 series bodystyles) owners that installed a limited slip differential, and I'm pretty damn sure I'm the only one that got the LSD carrier, pulled the diff, opened it up and installed all the parts himself as a non-shop owner for this series bmw. I know a couple guys had them, and they were installed by some shop, I did it out of my garage, as well as the 330 brake upgrade, exhaust and CAI (anybody can do this, I know) and a couple other things. The only thing I can't do is bodywork.

If you hope to get your new Magnum in just two months, you better read some of the other posts here. Average wait time is at least 4 months.

Good luck,

Bob

I ordered a Vanilla RT/AWD with everything but SIRIUS and U-Hack on October 30th, so we can compare notes.
115MPH on the autobahn sucks big time - a C180 would blow that. Wouldn't it be nice to take a R/T on the A1?

Cool, I didn't get the Sirius crap either....what's the U hack? And what sucks on the bahn, is cruising from ramstein to frankfurt doing 138mph the whole way, thinking you're king of the road, and I always watch my butt end pretty frequently, looking waaaaay back to make sure I'm not being crept up on by something....and in one instant there's nothing, and not 5 seconds later, I've got a porsche up my butt flashing me (like you're supposed to) to get out of his way....scared the hell out of me There's always somebody faster than you!!

Ramstein? I've been there a couple times (GS-12 at Scott). Even better I have cousins (more in Germany than the US even) up in Muenster NR/WF so the best part is driving up there either from Ramstein or Frankfurt-am-Main airport.
U-Hack is my name for U-Connect which is bluetooth based and we all know (?) bluetooth is not real secure. Well not much is really.
138? Trash that governor! A crummy C180 will do 135MPH. Too bad Americans can't understand driving such that the trees start to blurr in your peripheral vision.
I'd bet DCX sells or will sell the Magnum in Germany - one of my Cousins actually bought a PT cruiser from a German dealer. Praktish! - well it is. A HEMI, with an Eclass suspension and coupons from base - what more do you want?
