Default lowering the magnum

Why can't you cut the springs like we used to to lower the car? I haven't crawled under mine yet and I do like the looks of a lowered car, but we used to just cut the springs. Some guys just heated them but that's just wrong.

I wished my magnum was an inch or two higher. I had to learn how to park my magnum. I was use to parking my Dakato pick up truck and always when parking let front tires touch the curb or those concrete stops in parking lots. Don't try that with the magnum. Magnum was not designed to clear curb or stops with out scraping the underside of front end. So learn to park farther back from curb and concrete parking lot stops, or get a raise kit for car or a metal skid plate for front end.

Same thing happeded to my '37 chevy, loaned it to a friend to get us some dinner and when he got back he pulled up until he hit the tires on the parking bar, didn't work on that car, folded up the grill like paper, wasn't pretty.

I had an '89 S-10 with a fill-house drag motor in it that was lowered by the time honored tradition of heating the front coils - I could just picture the bubba-brothers doing it too - "how's that? do it match?" "nope - hit it again bro"

It was real low in front and rode like a freaking truck (go figure :-) Talk about an 'ill-handling' little machine - it was seriously quick and seriously fast but a real hand full at speed - not something I'll ever want to drive again.[sm=badidea.gif]

The Eibachs pull the Magnum down 'just right' and it rides and handles as good as or better than stock - just a bit firmer is all. Just gotta watch that nose... [sm=sigh.gif]

nobody said you can't the only problem is knowing how much to cut. a lot of people will say, "oh, you'll ruin your suspension, damage components, blah blah blah." but I don't see how the end result is that much different. if you cut the springs you'll have shorter springs with a higher compression ratio. if you buy springs, you'll have shorter springs with a higer compresssion ratio.

that being said, I bought Eibachs.

heh, had that same issue with mine when I first got it, I also had a dakota before the magnum and parked the same way, when the front tire hit the curb I was in far enough, already scraped up the bottom of the nose of mine some because when I first got it I forgot I can't do that anymore.

I may end up baggin' mine.
I love the lowered look but don't wanna forfit the smooth ride. I'd love to able to just push a button when I wanna go through a dip without draggin, then slam it on demand.
We'll see. I havn't found a kit that doesn't eat up alot of space (and way too much money) yet.
I may just do a 2" drop and call it done.

Have you dropped your car yet? If so, how is the ride?

I was wondering out there is anyone has had experience with air shock(heck if they even still makes them)? I was thinking of the 1.3 Eibach system and then putting air shocks on them with the on board air compressor. I know this is a jerry-rig for long term. But I would only need it very seldom like on a few business exits. Maybe just on the front side to raise the nose for those exits. Then on the next stop I guess I would have get out and do a tape measure to ge the car level again. Or heck even just put a level on the center console and adjust till level. Man the weird things I think of when sitting home bored hahahaah.

no, I havn't dropped it any yet.
I think I'll end up using Eibachs in the front and running 20s up there and then just running 22s with bigger tires in tha back. I have the towing package so I can't use the Eibach springs in back. I'm thinkin of just using that to my advantage and doing the wheel thang the way I want. I've been told it can't or at least shouldn't be done. That may be part of my motivation.
