Default 06 Magnum Transmission Input Speed Sensor

Hello everyone,

Appreciate any advice on this. I have an 06 Magnum SXT and I had an issue when starting the car and going into reverse the gear jumped and then I was driving and I could not get the car over 30mph. I pulled over, and turned the car off and on and it was ok and then the engine light went on.

I went to a dealer to determined what the issue was, and I was told it is a Transmission Input Speed Sensor, and the estimate was about 600.00! First off, I wanted to ask is this price reasonable, and also, is it good to ge ta 2nd opinion on a reading or are they pretty accurate?

Thanks for any help

Do you know which transmission you have? 42RLE or the NAG1 trans. If it the 42RLE, then it to much money. The sensor maybe 52.00 and then the labor. If you have a NAG1 trans, then that maybe in the ballpark. The valve body has to come down to replace the solenoid and both input sensors.

Many thanks for your reply...I am not sure what transmission I have...I do not know much about this subject, is there a way I can determine this based off the VIN? I checked my Owners Manual to no avail....any help is very appreciated!

If you have 2.7 or 3.5L, you may have the 42RLE trans. And if you have a 5.7L Then its a good chance you have the NAG1 trans.

Thanks again! I do have a 3.5L High Output, so that pretty much means I have the 42LRE?

Look under the car and look at the transmission pan, if the pan is silver in color. That would be a NAG1 trans. If the pan is black and has large sq pan, then its a 42RLE trans.
