OK now the nitty gritty. How much did this set me back. Before anyone yells too much, let me say they worked 32 man hours on this car.
I will give three prices here. First is theirs, second is crutchfield, third is Ebay.
Avic D1 - 1450 ..... 1599 .... 1080
Boston SL60 Component - 175 .... 349 ... 199
Bosotn S95 6x9 - 139 .... 130 ..... 90
JL Audio E4300 4 ch amp - 269 ...... N/a ..... 204
XM NavTraffic unit - 265 .... 299 .... 195
sub with two JL Audio 10' W3 and E1400 Amp with neon and fans - 749..... N/A ..... ~ 600 without the box
Installation was 619 dollars total. Before you guys gang pile me let me say this.... They ran all new wires....left all the factory stuff alone. So I can go back to complete factory if I need to. Also there is not one screw in that trunk. Everything is formfitted. It is snug so it won't move and easily removable. I am sure I could have done it for about 700 dollars less with ebay stuff, but it would not have looked this good. Plus everything is warrantied. Let me know what you think. Over all price was 3800 dollars.

Pretty good looking system. I just might have to steal the amp rack with the cut outs idea. The plexiglass is getting scratched to hell. Was going to put a trap door inplace of the plexiglass, but it would look like crap with a pit. I like the cutout idea, would not even have to have fans. Wood and carrpeting should be about $10-$15. Looks great. I dont know if you seen the new speaker grills I have. $50 for both. Kicker cast aluminum. Well enjoy the new tunes.

I like these enclosures, since you can still utilize the floor:

Yeah the cut outs are nice. They still have the plexi in them to protect the amps though. Just a lot less plexi than you have currently. I am having grills shipped to me to by the people who did the install. they didn't have any 10 inch jl covers instock. they will be a black mesh so you won't see the subs from the outside if you don't have the privacy screen across the top. as far as the one LTDad posted, i love that install on the side. I belive it is only an 8 though and that must have taken a lot of time.

For $400 a piece I think, I can redo the install in a second car for what they want for a set. I can still use the floor just fine. If I need to haul something big like a book case, I slip off the grills (they are friction held by the design of the Alpine subs) and place a board across them. and pull the fuse for the mono amp. I did a trip to GA about 2 months ago and had it packed in the back all the way to the roof. I am a firm beliver of function over form.

Kewl, the thing I really like the grills I got is that they are held in place by the design of the Alpine Dress up ring. I can just place them on and the friction holds them on. This way I can remove them easily for cleaning for showing. Eagerly awaiting your pics. Friday I have off and going to try to redo the amp cover with the cutouts. I'm not going to use lexan this time, this way the heatsinks will be in the open and I dont have to use fans for cooling. Only issue is that the amps are not square on top and have an arch to them. Also thinking of placing the amps closer to the enclosure and making a "pit" in the area close to the seats for storage. Just going to completely remove the fiberglass thing under everything. This is what I like about this website is that we can steal from each other and no p*ssing and moaning goes on hahaha. Oh yeah I'm Dave by the way, or I mostly go by my aircrew callsign "Reb".
