Default Factory remote starter

Anyone else in the snow belt have one?
Ours seems to have a mind of its own, about when to start, not to start, chirping three times and nothing, shutting down after 5 seconds of run time.
It's been a bit cold here in Minnesota and the wife would like a consistant starter.
I am contacting the dealer to swap out for a new unit.
For the $360 it cost when we ordered the car, I would think it would be better!
I have installed the $80.00 units myself and have not had these issues at all.
Any input would be great!

Mine worked fine for a few months and then started acting up. On first time back they replaced the hood switch under a recall. At that time it was failing intermittently and it decided to work that day after they replaced the switch. Later on it failed hard. They replaced the hood switch again (?) then a module (?) then the controller. It's been fine ever since. I assumed it was a bad solder joint because at first it would fail only when the car was parked in the hot sun. A) it's a VERY nice toy to have B) it was a good move to have had the dealer install it - they got to fix it.

It has been cold here and I do not drive it, so cannot moniter how it's working.
Will have dealer look at it.

I had problems at first, it would start then chirp then not start so I called the 800 # on the manual that said "dealers only" and they said it sounded like the hood switch..seems like whenever I parked on a flat surface the ball in the switch didn't roll and make contact to complete the circuit..I moved it lower as much as possible but with not much angle on the hood it still acted up a few times..Then I just cut the switch off and it has been fine ever since...Good luck

It uses a ball type of switch, not a pin type like the old interior-door light switches found on older cars?
Did you by-pass the switch or cut the wires?
Thanks.

Took the screws off the hood switch and all I get is no start-lots of horn honking and I'm hot under the collar.
Dealer call-here we come!!

My factory stater hood switch looked like a small metal tube..A ball would roll down and up and open and close the circut..Up it opens so you can't start engine..Hood down it completes the circut...I cut my wires off......End of problem

Sorry to about your problems. Knowing that the factory remote would be installed by the dealer, I took mine to a after market installer.
Had a Compustar installed . Its been great. over 1000'(real) range and even through most buildings. It will allow me to add express window down/up along with sunroof open, from the remote. More expensive but a better unit. Goodluck.

Dealer replaced under hood switch, and voila! It works just like it's supposed too!
