Superchips here and in...
From what I can tell, you can't. They go by build date? The dealer said the TSP the Superchips tech said I needed did not apply to my car, so I'm unsure if it will work. My only interest is top end, so I may save $200 and go with the Hypertech.
FlatEric,
In your post dated 5/23/06 you said your car has software version 3.61 dated 7/27/04. How did you find that out? I ask because I want to run my software version number and build date by the techs at Superchips before I buy the Flashpaq. There a guy selling them brand new on eBay for $385!

Press and hold the 2 inside bottom buttons on the steering wheel. The ones with the music note and the "N". This brings up all kinds of info, some being the software version and date.
I suspect you will get told to get the flash upgrade, even if your car was built after the TSB, like mine. I wrote back to Superchips for clarification as my car was built a month after the TSB, and I could not imagine Dodge using old software when new was already written. The answer was it depends on when the computer was built and flashed, etc, etc, so after 2 mail exchanges with them and the dealer telling me i don't need or qualify for the flash as I already have the newest, I don't know if it will work or not, and i'm not willing to gamble $385 to find out.
Anyone else have a build date of 12-04 with software version 3.61 dated 7/27/04 and have theFlashPaq working?

My software and build date are the same. I'm going to contact my dealership to see what they say about updating the software on my car. I agree with FlatEric, I'm not going to buy the Flashpaq unless I know it will work. Sounds like Superchips isn't really willing to help out unless your software is the newest version.
I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the tip about the two keys on the steering wheel. I have always wondered what kind of oil pressure my car was running... now I can find out.

May I make a suggestion? Go over to LXforums and read up on this issue if you haven't.
Its quite involved but being resolved.
And Superchips is committed to rectifying any problems.
I have an early build car and the SC FP would not work at all until I was flashed up to date and now it works great. It really woke up my car and I have always held one of the top 1/4 miles times I have seen yet for a 5.7 HEMI car. (13.613)
Granted, I needed version 1.03s to make it work, but the fix and the word on this is here:

Lots of good info, 30 plus pages, but I'm still not sure if it will work on mine or not. They are using numbers (ecm/tcm?) that appear to be only available if you already have the FlashPaq. Build date does not seem to help, some have same build month as mine with some having problems and some not. The .pdf that is there only lists ecm/tcm which I don't have.
With this version 1.03 they are talking about fixing SOME of the older versions of Magnum, you might read into this that one of the versions wil work, regardless of when your car was built. Some say they have the same build date as mine but have been dealer flashed, which my dealer won't (can't) do. I don't think I'm going to spend $500 or so unless I know it will work before I give up the credit card number.
I have posted over there to see if we can get some info on just the data we have, build date and software version.
This is what my dealer showed me when I asked about the flash update, my car does not fall into these catagories:
TSB #: 18-031-04 REV. A
Date: November 12, 2004
Group: Vehicle Performance
MODELS: 2005 (LX) Chrysler 300/Magnum
Subject: Flash: Driveability Improvements MIL Illumination Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0116, P0139, P0159, P0197, U110B or U1402
Overview: This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 5.7L engine (sales code EZB) and domestic market emissions (sales code NAS) that were built:
- On or before May 28, 2004
- Between July 1, 2004 and August 18, 2004.
- Vehicles with a 5.7L engine built on or before June 12, 2004 or between July 1, 2004 and August 18, 2004

Build date of 12-04 with software version 3.61 dated 7/27/04. Off the label is 121217. It is an RT with AWD. Dealer can't flash it as it is not on the elegible list.
Any way to tell if this will work on mine without the ecm/tcm numbers? There are several Magnum owners over at dodgeforum that are interested in this.
Thanks,

The AWD Magnum RT's in your timeframe are all ok, except for the fact that the 3825 does NOT support paddle kick in AWD cars. This deficiency is not regarded by most as a problem unless you are really serious about drag racing. I'm a fan of paddle hold myself (it will NOT upshift by itself - it'll bounce off the rev limiter!), it makes the tranny act more like a manual. The other benefits are all there - adjust tire size, change speed limiter, reduce torque management on upshifting, 91 and 87 tunes, raised rev limiter (will also raise shift points - I don't like it only because I don't want my engine to rev past 6k), etc.
As you may have already figured out, I recommend the product.
