Default First challenge on the highway and new "Mod"

Hey Everyone,
A funny thing happened to me today...... I was cruising on some backroads and was following some kid driving his Daddy's Lexus. When we reached the highway, he "Insisted" on trying to outrun us. Naturally, I had to show him I was still there, right? Well, my wife says "I don't want to know how fast we are going" after making some gas guzzling slurping sounds as I got on it out of the ramp. She figured we were doing about 75 or so.[:-] Well more like just about 100. I backed off, because as you can see in the attached photo, it really wasn't something I should have been doing. You will see my first mod attached to the roof. The car had plenty more still to go. Effortless. BUmmer can't get a picture to post. Keep getting a disk error.

Oh Well,
What you would have seen was a 2 week old AWD RT in Silver with a tandem bicycle on the roof. The bike runs about 8' long+-. The bike and racks are valued around $4500 +-, so I figured I should slow down...

My sons (9 & 12) thought it was a hoot at 105 mph. 12 year old said "couldn't see through the corn stalks we were moving so fast"
Middle of MN, flat highway, wife saying the same thing, "don't want to know how fast"
1,000 mile break in.

Sounds fun! I had an exciting experience myself a few weeks back. I too was on a country road. Got behind one of those Florida tourist that want to drive 30 in a 55. Will I got tired of that in a hurry so I step on it. I mean really stepped on it. My wife did not say anything but I still have the finger marks on the dash and passenger door from her tight grip. I like it when the wife doesn't yell SLOW DOWN! I had a 72 Chevelle SS in high school and this thing would have torn that car up! Magnums are a blast to drive!!

Reminds me of when I was driving my 69' Dodge Super Bee and towing a U-Haul trailer behind me. Some guy at the light thought I must be driving slow with that trailer and tried to get around me, He-He, he never had a chance!

The good old days,

Bob

HipsterJ,
Nice to see I am not the only one that uses the Magnum for other uses! Towed my work trailer today with tools loaded int the back of the car. Not my first choice, but work vehicle was back in the shop. So what did you think of the "mod" on the roof? Tough to see in the photo I guess.

Can't wait to pull the boat again with the Magnum.
Just don't do what my bro did, pulled INTO he garage with bikes mounted!
UGLY, UGLY, UGLY!
Magnum dropped only 1" when boat is attached, but pulls it fine!

I have 8' tall doors. My bike clears on my wife's car, but not on the tandem. The other bummer is that with the tandem setup on the roof, I cannot open the hatch of the Magnum. Unfortunately, it appears as if I will have to use the wife's Chevy Malibu when we go tandeming. That really sucks. I did pull my work trailer this week with a load of stanging, as my work vehicle was in the shop. Pulled great. Not like towing with the F350 PSD that I had, but not bad.
