Might get a new Magnum SXT
My wife and I were searching for things to do. Then she pipes up and suggests that we go look at Magnum's and Caliber's (Hell, Im not gonna argue with that...LOL). We get to the car lot and we find the Magnums, and the salesman asked if we would like to drive one. We said yes and we picked one. I wanted to drive a hemi, but my wife said no, because of too much power! I was disappointed, but since its gonna be her car; she makes the final decision. We test drove a charcoal gray sxt w/leather interior, heated and electric front seats, sirius sat. radio, and othe lil amenities. Man I fell in love with it and it had great power even for a v-6. My wife loved it too. The we drove back to the lot and saw the one and only Caliber (sxt) they had. He then got the keys to that and we drove that. Yeah, it is a lil sluggish when you step on it from a stop, but thats no biggie. It did ride nice and it was awesome not feeling the shift. I liked it too. He then asked us if he wanted to see what we could get them for trade in, if we decide. why not? well he did the figuring up and we could get a better deal for Magnum, but she knew I really wanted the Caliber. But I reitterated that it was going to be her car. So she said she did like the Magnum better. They ran the papers, but then they asked us for the keys to her car...we were like; we didnt drive it because we really werent intending to try to buy today. So we will find out on Monday....I kinda hope we get it! Its gonna be our first brand new car, and we'd be the first of anyone we know to have the new style of Dodge........Man; that would look great in our driveway with my 02 'Kota 4x4 slt quad.!
Here is basically what it looks like:

When I first went to my local dealer two years ago to look at the Magnum, I knew I wanted the Hemi. They had none in stock, offered me a ride in a SXT, I said no thanks.
Went back in a few weeks, test drove the RT, bought it.................................
Do your wife a favor, go back to the dealer and test drive the Hemi. Remember that it runs on 4 cyl most of the time, like having your cake and eating it too.
Love that Hemi,
Bob

i drove both. i thought the v6 would be "good enough" until i realized that it's a minor 1-2 mpg penalty to get the v8. if 1-2 mpg is going to seriously dent the budget, maybe a $33k car will too. mostly city driving, i'm averaging 19 with only 2400 miles to date.
Nah; I'll be happy with the 3.5; besides getting the hemi adds about 5k to the price. I dont think we can swing that payment. This SXT is loaded anyway, and has some pep to it. The 3.5 is a good engine; i'll stick with it. Im tired of people telling me that it sucks unless you get a hemi! YOU PAY; FOR IT AND I'LL GET IT...UNTIL THEN SHUT UP!
I like my sxt, but I wish to god I'd have gotten the hemi
I didn't get it though for the same reason, the extra $5k on the price...
Another part of me kicks myself for not getting my vette, hehe but my 15" subwoofer wouldn't fit too well in a convertable vette

Im not complaining about the money its just that; to me the 3.5 is fine! Not everyone needs a hemi...sure it'd be nice, but as I said this has some pep.

Just my $.02. What'd you think people were gonna say? Anyway if you dont need the hp and you need the dough, maybe a couple of bicycles are what you need.[sm=smarty.gif]

We did get the car...Man; is it nice! We get Sirius Satellite radio...FREE! It's very comfortable, roomy, and smooth ridin'! Get this; when the salesman was setting up the Sirius, one of the things he asked us is if we wanted Playboy? I said " Playboy what"? He said" Playboy on your Sirius"! I then asked "Are You SERIOUS"? Im like what do I need with Playboy on my radio for? If I have that on my radio; we may need to get extra insurance! LOL!
Anyway;no matter what people say, the car is fun to drive; even if it does only have a v-6!

I agree Dakota. Not only would you pay the 5 grand more, the hemi is a gas guzzler. Unless you're planning on racing it officially or just for fun on the street, the SXT has got plenty of power for me. We all know we have to pay through the nose for gas with no relief in sight, so why bother? My new black SXT is being delivered tomorrow--can't wait!!! I do have a question for any of you all out there that may know. Since I'm so pickey about the options I wanted, my car has to be delivered to St Louis, where I live, from Chicago, some 300 or so miles. The dealer says they have special drivers they send after the cars to drive them to their destinations. My boyfriend said since they are putting on that many miles to get it here, they should sell it as a used car. Am I getting ripped off? Is this a frequent practice to drive the cars rather than trucking them? Any one know the answer I'd appreciate the info ASAP as I said it's being delivered tomorrow
