Thanks Nick!!! Your two cents are valuable... I do agree, I think Tedman5's setup
may be a good way to go. I may talk to the shop that put Flowmasters on another
car for me.

My wife, yes, my wife contacted DaimlerChrysler regarding the sound of
the Magnum on the commercials....this is the core of the reply.

"With regards to the actual model used in the commercial, the Dodge
Magnum itself would not have any after market parts on it in the
commercial. We apologize for any confusion or inconcvienence."

Very interesting!

They probably just cut a hole in the exhaust system somewhere, thus allowing them to make that statement with a more or less clear conscience. By the way, if your wife is interested in performance exhaust notes, she's a keeper!

Well, I'm doing the Flow Masters this Thursday. They are charging me $450 for the mufflers and installation. I can't figure out how you got it done for only $250... there must be no labor in that price. I decided to go or it, it's the only shop in the area where I live that was even interested in doing it.

Oh, I will post pics and comments ASAP. I fogot my camera in the hurry to get to the shop tonight. But I'll take it with me Thursday and get before and after shots, along with progress shots. I might shoot some video too. We're going to do it in three stages. First I'm going to replace the factory muffler with the Flowmasters. We'll drive it. If I want more sound, we'll cut the resenators off and take it for a spin. If I like the sound, we'll fab some exhaust tips using the factory ones. If I don't like the sound, then we'll put glass packs in place of the resenators. Should be fun.

Fullauto, I was able to get it done for $250.00 because the stainless Flowmaster 40 series are $90.00 each, plus labor. Sounds like you're getting ripped off a little bit. It only took them less than an hour to do this mod.

Hey Tedman5.... With your set up, have you noticed any back pressure issues? Loss of power? Anything that decreases the performance?

Thanks for the exhaust photo showing your new mufflers.

Is there a balance tube between the left and right exhaust on the stock system? There doesn't seem to be one in the photo.

Wouldn't a balance tube or "H" pipe give more power and help redudce any drone or loudness?

I always try to put a balance tube on my exhaust system on my car.

Anyone know if there is one on the Magnum stock exhaust?

Thanks,

Bob

There is an "x" shaped crossover in the factory system. I left mine in place and started cutting just before the suitcase muffler for exactly the reasons you mentioned.
