Airaid Intake now available
The higher rpms could be the ticket. Lets face it, in the absence of a digital tach, the rpm numbers that I am seeing could swing 100 rpm in either direction with a simple change in viewing angle.
When you refer to problems on the dyno, will it shut your run down (i.e. cause excessive braking) or can/do you overcome it? Does it, in your opinion, skew the data when the ESP realizes the back wheels are spinning w/o the fronts and applies the brakes and/or cuts fuel?
Be sure to post pics of your CAI when you get it set up. I am especially interested in what you do with the bottom end and all of that flashing under the motor.
Thanks for the input.

If you want a digital tach, just depress the compass rose and "music note " buttons at the same time on the steering wheel and hold for about 10 seconds. Assuming you have the electronics conv. grp., this will give you a digital tach, water temp, and other goodys on the display below the speedo...scroll through and see. Pretty slick.
I don't think the computer thorws us off much if at all. When I did the 1/4 mile simulator at 4150 lbs on the Mustange Dyno (it loads the car) it came up 14.3 s in 1/4 mile at 97MPH. Of we everyone knows about this car that is about right. You'll be a bit faster on the track because you can't break stand on the dyno.
Besides, we run about 12:1 A/F ratio, that's pig rich.
As far as the skirting goes, I don't do a thing with it. There are about 6 plastic tabs and 8 screws that hold that bottom kick panel on and 2 of the screws on the service panel that have to be taken off during install. That gives you access to put the filter in. The CAI pipe goes from the TB to that hold where the air comes from anyway. A cone filter sits behind the headlight assembly. That area is basically splash proof because there is no direct way to splash it. It it very similar to the front end of a Grand AM or Grand Prix in that respect. I have yet to hear of GA or GP have issues with water ingestion with a CAI there. Plus ingestion will be VERY difficult because it would have to splash up the filter, go about 12" up, then about 24" over and then make another right turn before it gets to the throttle body. I'm willing to bet that people running water injection will suck up more water on purpose than this thing will by accident.
About the digital tach, that's sweet. That's why I love Dodge, they are really cool about things like that.

EDIT: very neat trick indeed. Lot's of info in there from rpm & speed to oil pressure and... well you already know this. Just had to say, very neat.
Mine defaults right back to it when turned off. I don't know if I did something special or if they are all like that but I had it on last night and it was there as soon as I started the car this morning. BTW, the information is not in the manual (at least not in mine) so this is something of an "easter egg." Very cool.
