i have a first generation neon. and was wondering, when i get on the gas and shift, inbetween geers there is a air noise that almost sounds like a blow off valve. is this normal or should i check my exhaust, or could it be the catalic converter?

 

Do you have a cold air intake or something similar to it? Mine has a slight whistle when I shift gears, its just the air filter. I personally like the noise. If you dont' have a CAI or something similar then I don't know what the noise is.

 

i dont have a cai, it might be the air filter but it sounds like its coming from underneath the car not in the engine compartment, i like it how it sounds but i was just wondering if i should be concerned or not/

 

in a perfect world maybe someone secretly put a turbo on your car, have you notice some horsepower gains?? Dreaming arent I

 

Get under the car and take a look. Look for any holes in the exhuast, have someone start the car and rev it and listen and find the problem.

 

i wish there was a turbo but im only runnin 16.2 so thats not possible. but like i said, you can only hear it inbetween shifts and only when im getting on it. Ill try looking for holes but i dont think that is it. but maybe it is. thanks for the help. ill get back and let you all know

 

Mine has been doing the same thing but im almost certain its the intake.

 

Your intake is gonna make some noise, even if it is stock, when you are at WOT.

 

If you have an intake i would think thats where its comming from. My car makes a tssst sound when i rev it in the begining. SOME PEOPLE THINK ITS TURBO lol
