what do you need to do it yourself besides a spring compressor?

Yea my older brother works at a garage and they charge 50 an hour just for labor...but on the plus side i get all my upgrades and stuff put on for free at home cause he can borrow engine pullers and all that good stuff...
On a different note i just bought new 16" wheels that i will be putting on in the spring and i just needed to know what i will need to get the speedometer accurate cause i know with larger tires the speedometer wont be accurate what would i need to buy or adjust??
thanks!
What you need to do is measure the circumfrence of your stock rims with stock tires on them. Then when you go to look at tires find the one that closely resembles the circumference of your stock tires.

So, basically you'll be getting lower profile tires as they will closely match your stock tire size.

They have these online already....no need to measure your stock rims w/tires.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

You put your stock settings in there and then the new size you're going to. Then you can change it to get it as close to the stock rim/tire diameter which will keep your speedometer reading the same.

The problem could be that its lowered.

When you change the suspesion for handling you lose comfort. If you don't like the way it rides, bring it back to stock specs.

New struts can help it ride a little less rough. But it'll still ride rough.

struts normally make a ride stiffer ride without struts and you have a spongy ride

What? If you drive without struts you go nowhere as the car would be sitting on the pavement, your car needs sturts. I may have misread what you wrote but thats exactly what you said.

Like crazy said...if you want a smooth ride, I repeat "DO NOT LOWER YOUR CAR". Your lowered car no matter what strut/spring combo you go with it will always be a rougher ride than stock.
