Manual Transaxle Vs. Automatic throttle cam...can I do this???
On the manual transaxle car, the throttle is operated by a progressive cam that provides relatively slow initial response to pedal movement. On the automatic transaxle car, the throttle cam provides throttle response proprotional to pedal movement. Has anyone, or is it possible, to take the automatic throttle cam and put it on the manual throttle rather than to change the whole throttle body.
Here's the article from allpar.com..
The throttle body has a 2.05 in. (52 mm) bore to minimize restriction at high rpm. To enhance manual transaxle driveability, the throttle body has a contoured bore in the off-idle area that reduces the slope of the airflow vs. throttle angle curve making low-throttle "launches" easier. Also with manual transaxle, the throttle is operated by a progressive cam that provides relatively slow initial response to pedal movement. With automatic transaxle, the cam provides throttle response proportional to pedal movement.

I think I could learn to deal with coming out of first lol. I'm trying to acheive a more sensative throttle
since you want the more sensitive throttle of the atx tb cam.. you should just go ahead and toss the whole atx tb on there, since its 52mm compared to the 49mm of the mtx one
get yourself a little hp boost while you are at it
i will warn ya tho, that touchy atx throttle cam and spring, get old after a while.

I'm planning on getting an aftermarket throttle body. I just want to know what can get me out of the whole quicker for now. A lot of people think putting the whole automatic throttle body in a 5-speed makes the throttle more sensative but I think that it might be the cam. I just want to test it out.

but like i said, rather than swap just the spring and cam over, just do the whole tb and youll be set

it was fun driving around on the atx tb for a while, thats for sure. took some effort to NOT spin the tires anytime leaving from a complete stop.

I replaced the whole TB with one from an atx. When I get the time, I'll be swapping the mtx cam and spring back in... too jumpy for me at high rpm's when I don't want it.
Best of luck!
