poor gas milage on my sxt!
what kind of gas milage is everyone out there getting on there neon? i just got one about a week ago due to high gas prices. i have a magnum rt thats a gas guzzler in town, that we thought we werent going to drive as much couse of the gas. the manuel says the neon has 12.5 fuel tank and it gave us about 150 mi before the fuel light came on. am i not doing the math right? thats like less than 12mi per gal. however it has been about 105 to 108 in tempiture and the A/C has been on full blast non stop. please help, jaime

RE: poor gas milage on my sxt!
150 is pretty low. I'm at almost 100 and I'm slightly below the 3/4th tick mark. And I do not really try to conserve gas if you get what I'm saying. When I took a trip with my neone last summer I got over 300 before my gas light even came on. Generally I get about 28mpg when I just drive around town. But again, I don't shift optimally all the time either. Check your tire pressure, air filter, spark plugs, wires, to make sure its running well. I bet one or more needs changing.

If there is something wrong with it they should. However if you go in there and say "my car is getting bad mileage" they'll probably tell you the mileage you're getting is normal. Most likely it is not throwing any trouble codes either so they probably would tell you its fine. It could be a bad oxygen sensor, I forgot about that earlier.

RE: poor gas milage on my sxt!
Well I know my "Low Fuel" light comes on when I hit 220 miles, but i can always get at least 275 miles on a tank, even when the needle is way below the E it always still has at least 1.5-2.0 gallons left...and R/T's are notorious for bad gas mileage, so you should still be getting at least 275-325 miles per tank...obviously your problem is a bit more extreme, but i do know running the A/C full blast in a hot enviroment will contribute to poor gas mileage (but not 150 miles a tank poor!) because the Neon has a very strong A/C. But it sounds more serious than that, i would take it to the dealer, get a tune up, run some fuel system cleaner through there, check your spark plugs, wires, etc...
